I think Twin turbo diesel or even tri-turbo diesel engines are more suitable for the character and driving purpose of 6-Series GC.

U would be surprised ! we had a Snow training with the GC 650 - all equipped with the new 450 HP engine and X-drive - incredible machine - the 550 M Diesel was no comparison....
xDrive is the magic word here...the M5 and M6 would sell amazingly well with xDrive.
I am a Porsche nut and I would have gotten the M5 xDrive instead of the Panamera Turbo S...it would have saved me a huge amount of money. Unfortunately...
A friend and forum user owns a GC650 with the new 450 hp engine and xDrive and it is an amazing car. As far as I remember, he was interested in the M5 too but kind of switched to the GC because of the lack of AWD.

Looks truly good in that spec imo! I would avoid the gold calipers though.
Gold is kind of lame...BMW M Gmbh surely wanted to mimic the yellow calipers of the Porsche PCCB and yellow was probably too obvious. Same goes to Mercedes btw., as far as I remember, their ceramic brakes have gold calipers too (I don't quite remember).

AMG ceramics are a more bronze ..
Red (or rose gold vs. yellow gold... (I haven't seen the BMW ones in real life though).
I actually don't like the blue calipers BMW is using now for their M models. They look weird.
Why not use red or the previous black ones? Most people driving a BMW M want to be more stealth and the blue calipers kind of contradict that. BMW could offer colored calipers as an option.
Does somebody know if Porsche has some sort of a copyright thing going on for yellow calipers? If not, yellow is actually the best choice for ceramics.

Actually, I'm more than happy with my yellow calipers

I know what you're talking about, since I own a fully equipped GC 650i xDrive since Nov. The character of this elegant sedan gets better underlined with the powerful but comfortable 450 hp V8 which fits better than the M version imho.
Theres not the feeling about a serious power shortage but the GC will not be a sports car, although 4.5 sec. from 0-100 km/h isn’t so bad. Due of the long wheelbase the CG isn’t a curve artist, but a very fast and comfortable saloon with excellent everyday practicality.
The AWD is really the best thing if you take the current weather in southern Germany in account. He is incredibly calm and safe to drive, with an excellent traction.
This car really can do everything except of cooking. You get used to the whole armada of electronic gimmicks that much, that you wonder if you've arrived at home, why the door doesn’t open automatically. I would recommend this car very much. Have already covered 10,000 km. The average fuel consumption is about 13 liters per 100 km. This may sound not that economical but compare this with the M550 Diesel. During my testdrive I had a consumption of 17 Liters (!!) with this diesel. No joke
and a whole frozen lake to play with .....- having owned various Audi models I was deeply impressed with the new x-drive and it's 3 dynamic stages you can turn off. A beast when all off and incredible when the gadgets were on - we drove with +80 km/h into the obstacle curse (hard left-right like on the elk test) - on snow - and the car was taking it without loosing it.....do the same with the system switched off and many of us having race-licences were lost in space...

Christian, you can get Red, Yellow, Silver and Black caliper on Ferraris for example. BMW and AMG choose that wierd Gold, Bronze and Blue scheme to be original I guess. Just, they failed.
Otherwise, I fully agree with you-yellow or red.
Porsche offered a color choice (red only I think but I'm not sure, was quite expensive though) through Exclusive department too for a year or so a couple of years ago but they abandoned it and I'm not so sure why (maybe marketing was concerned about model identity).
I think black, red and yellow are OK for calipers, silver is already borderline in my opinion but bronze or gold or even blue are colors which simply don't really fit.

Funny thing is, that some say that at Ferrari silver seems to be the new red for calipers.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.

The M6 Grand Coupe is also on display at the Chicago Auto Show and is rather impressive, if a bit over-the-top on styling flourishes. Those gold colored calipers are not the only peacock influenced frippery found on the car-the carbon fibre roof and the faux carbon fibre daylight opening surrounds are others.
