The interior of the car I find as you would expect from AM, leather everywhere and beautiful stitching. Piano Black in the centre console and the door handles. Steering wheel feels about perfect in my hands and the paddles have a very positive action, fixed to the column not the wheel. The seats are very comfortable, with adjustable lumbar support and seat heating - hard to believe we would need it here but we have quite a number of days around zero C in the winter. Upgraded Sat Nav is very easy to use, blue tooth for phone, inbuilt ipod cable - although I don't know why they can;t have blue tooth for audio from phone like we have in our Golfs. The audio is the premium Harman Kardon, great sound (not the $14k B&O option).
The feel of being in the car is very cocooned. Great connection to the road, the car feels beautifully planted with superb steering feel, although I have not yet had the car to the max - can't wait to get to the track and some out of town twisties. Fantastic torque and, with the limited pushing I have done thus far, the engine feels very willing and able. It feels more powerful than my 997.1 C4S. And the sound!!!! Oh the sound - it defies description. Under load the exhaust vale open at about 3500 rpm and sounds like a Nascar V8. The dealer fitted a small button in the centre console which when turned on (and lights up) leaves the exhaust valve open the whole time or not depending on how I am feeling towards my neighbours (a fantastic option - the alternative to removing fuse 22). At start up the car sounds particularly aggressive, especially when the engine is cold. It it crackles, pops and burbles on down shifts. Listening to the audio has not been a priority thus far!!
The "always-on" exhaust valve button on the right - note it is turned on! Sorry I could not get the centre console photo to be upright even though it was upright when I uploaded it.
View from the rear to the cockpit - gives a better impression of how black the interior is.
The engine sits nicely behind the front axle to get the best weight distribution.
And lastly the engine through the not-fake wire mesh bonnet louvre.
So please excuse my rather self indulgent posting but I wanted to share my excitement at receiving this magnificent piece of automotive art.
