    RSR: better buckle up

...before you watch this.  Insane skills in a fantastic car.

Wow, this kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time!
So thrilling to see how the driver would try on the inside, see that the guy in front of him would defend his line, switch to the outside and pass by... fantastic driving!

Clearly MUCH more power.  It is fun to drive and pass everyone with a TON of extra power.  It was like my simulator with the opposition turned to 80%.  Not so hard to do.

    Re: RSR: better buckle up

....it's always nice to have 600hp  when the cars ahead have only 450hp!

    Re: RSR: better buckle up

Very skilful driving even with power advantage - you still have to find the gaps and make them count...kiss

    Re: RSR: better buckle up

As a former driver, it is disconcerting for me to see so many passes on the inside of the cars in front.  Front cars, seeing a much more powerful car in close pursuit, should pull to the inside and signal to let the faster car pass.  At least that was how I learned.  Professional drivers can handle the passing on the inside maneuvers, amateurs should be more cautious..

    Re: RSR: better buckle up

    Excellent points!

I'm no racer at all, but the "downgrade" from 3.8 to 3.0 displacement, with an "upgrade" to turbo seems like a HUGE advantage as long as you can stay on boost, but nothing is keeping the other cars in the same class from having the same platform (and I suppose some may).  I seems to my eye that this guy obviously knows how to use his car to its best advantage.

I suspect that the RSR suspension platform also comes dramatically into play here, allowing for his fantastic maneuverability and maintaining his momentum through traffic.

I'm not sure why he didn't get a better position during time trials (maybe he had mechanical issues?) but he does seem to have a big stick to swing there, and swings it with confidence.

The main reason I posted it, is that it set me back a bit the first time I watched it.  Plus its fun to see an older platform eat new cars alive once in a while.  Once in a while...

    Hope you enjoyed!

    Wonderbar:

That was a race, no trackday.
