Re: Wanna see "my" Panamera Turbo S in action ?

    dxpetrov:

Well, I doubt it will come that early as May-June this year... I expect it to be in dealerships by December.

A facelift in December ? Not very likely. Spring or summer...this is the rule. Smiley

The Panamera was introduced in April 2009 at the Chinese Show with production within a few weeks. The most likely FL time will be 4 years later i.e. Spring 2013 or perhaps just before summer 2013. In any event, at some time between April and June 2013.

My U.S. dealer is already getting his 2013 allocations for the current model, and does not expect any new facelift cars to be available for sale until January 2014.  If he is right, then facelift will be shown in Frankfurt in September 2013.

    Wonderbar:

Frankfurt would also make sense but my bet is still on Shanghai...a gut feeling. Smiley

I would be the happiest person on earth if the facelift would be available 2012, delaying the delivery date is not a big problem since I still have my 997 Carrera GTS Cab until 11/2012 if I don't take the PTS in May.

The interesting part though is: A Panamera Turbo S facelift model will not be available from the start, it may take another 6-12 months before it is introduced. Waiting at least another 12 or 18 months for the facelift, no thanks.

I chose black with black front  lights because it makes the car look slightly different. I hope the facelift won't be too radical, Porsche unfortunately has a history of p.ss.ng off customers with facelifts, the 996 is a very good example.

My dealer is taking facelift order 2013 model, this is confirmed by my us porsche management friend.

They will have a huge sales problem if they delay the 2013 facelift as no one is going to order the old car.

    I most certainly wont.

Lets hope your info is wrong, otherwise i

Might get a 458 to tide me over :)

Just a confirmation, as I thought.

and also guys, just remember and don't think about anything else (or listen to anyone) - the mules are out... This is VERY IMPORTANT! SmileySmiley

They are bringing forward the facelift compared to usual 4 yrs time frame to be 3.5 yrs as they want obviously to sort out the design issues and bring to a line with new generations of 911, Boxster, Cayman, etc

There will be a facelift in 2013, indeed but the facelift will be a 2014 model. Smiley

The first 991 mules were on the street in 2008, just FYI. Smiley

Re: Wanna see "my" Panamera Turbo S in action ?

Do you read my posts at all?! As I said and once again, 991  was brand new model so it required much longer testing period... Not so with facelifts - it's usually 6-10 month before u see a disguised mule transformed to a regular production model. If they need more testing for the facelift, they do it before that but with ''old'' body since those changes are not to be seen from outside anyway. The last bit is the external package, which is only cosmetics, and when you see it on streets it means the intro is very close indeed.

Re: Wanna see "my" Panamera Turbo S in action ?

Of course I read your posts and I understand what you mean but even the german press mentioned a 2013 facelift introduction, so everything I read and heard so far leads to a 2013 introduction.

You actually made me doubt my own words again, so I will check with another source I haven't talked to yet. It may take a while though but I need to know (for my own good ).

Still: Even if the facelift would be available 2012, the Turbo S model wouldn't. Which kind of is a deal breaker for me. Unless the Panamera Turbo (non-S) facelift gets 530 hp, which could be OK if they improved performance by little tweaks.

Time will tell...I will know for sure by the end of this month or latest next month. indecision

Oops, I thought you had already set your decision and not been able to change it!

The thing is, I've been quite positive about this for a while but didn't want to cause you trouble with your decision. I think you made great choice purchasing a car that made me rethink my indifference towards Porsches in the past and with whom they proved they can build the best car in any category they want. Just name it and Porsche deliver it.

    There is no substitute.

Honestly, I have not asked any sources for any information. However, based on my gut feeling and the fact that Porsche typically sticks to the 3 year product cycle I would suggest that a FL in 2012 could somehow be likely...

Re: Wanna see "my" Panamera Turbo S in action ?

I don't care about facelifts.  They're just what they are: new plastic bits, little else.

...then again I don't about new models either!  That's the great thing about Porsches - they're all great and they're the only cars that always look better as they get older!

I already ordered the Panamera Turbo S but I can delay delivery by two or three months but probably not longer. I already rushed my dealer to get me an earlier spot in May (June was actually planned), so he could think I'm crazy if I want a delay. Smiley

Like I said before though, even if the facelift comes, it is going to be without the Turbo S at first. This morning, I got another hint that the facelifted Turbo won't get more than 520 hp, so the non-facelift Turbo S would still have 30 horses more, this is a lot.

I haven't asked the dealer yet but I also never wanted to ask because dealers usually don't comment on new products or facelifts, even if they know something.
