Carlos from Spain:
Anybody know how many 996 GT3RS were made? I heard 682 units, if so does that include the motorsport version or just the street version?
Hmmm, where is Eric-Alain now that we need him. He was always a good, reliable source of such statistics.
The GT3 RS and GT3 RSR production figures would not have been aggregated, as they were effectively different products. Don't know if your figure of 682 units for the road car was correct though.

Carlos - Are you considering one for yourself? I think that is a very attractive model in many ways and wish they made it to the US.

Thanks Fritz, that makes sense about the GT3 RS vs RSR. The figure of 682 I was told was published in a magazine, but I'm not 100% about its reliability. Suposedly, initially there were supposed to be only 200, but they ended up producing more.

682 units is correct, Carlos 4 units were built in 2003, 678 in 2004. And - as already mentioned by fritz - this figure is for the street version only.
I like this model a lot: more playful than 997 (though for the 996 it's even more important than for the 997 to adjust the alignment correctly !) and real added value compared to the "normal" 996 GT3 (unlike GT3/RS 997.1). And in the right hands the car is still fast even compared to newer models.

Thank you Achim!!, just what I was looking for I'll pass the info along

Hey Bud(ster) - nice to see some CT on a porsche forum and thanks for the welcome. My 6RS is only 2k new to me and loving it beyond even my skyhigh expectations. Are you in the CT Porsche Club? if so I'll see you there next weekend for the historics race - 917s and 904,5 and swarms of 944s and pre 90s 911s etc... Ps - what colour is your bosses' RS trim? Red, Blue or deleted ;) ?
RS trim was criminally deleted..! Although he took also deleted the roll cage and added back aircon etc, he's recently had the suspension lowered further, upgraded the wheels and put on semi slicks, upgraded the rear wing to 997.2 GT3RS spec and is about to get an exhaust upgrade. He's using it more and more on the track having recently retired and with more time on his hands.
I'm not a member of the Porsche Club - I would be if the local P dealer's 3-year maintenance plan didn't (ridiculously) preclude track days, so maybe in 2 years and 11 months I'll join up..! I'm still hoping they'll figure out how bizarre this is, and simply delete brake pads from the maintenance plan or something... But I doubt it - obviously the insurance underwriter isn't a sports car fan... I can't believe PAG allow the local dealer to do this though - it detracts from the brand IMO.

Porsche Carrera GTS (2012); Porsche Cayenne Diesel (2012)
Was the car orig a blue or red? Sounds fast and getting faster! But why delete the roll cage if he's tracking? iron head?
Re the track day issues - Toby (principal) was one of very few dealers globally who offered a motor plan as far as I understand and the success of his plan with the RS's had the sting in the tail ofcourse as all those amateur track dayers and racers started wearing into his budgetll it's not just the pads - the vigorous usteen heavier cars tends to wear many things faster! All it took was for the 2008 crisis to give him the justification to cancel the motor plan for ANY track users. But the club is more than just track days - F1, historic, about 15 members race GT3s and 944 etc... so come check out some racing and do a breakfast run or wine lands tour etc.... And then you'll be good and propper ready when your warranty finally expires!
