    CGT Surging on incline?

Has any CGT owners experienced this?  Basically when I drive on an uphill incline and shift from say 3rd to 4th at full throttle, it will feel as if though the engine is surging, almost if the car has gone into neutral.  Has anyone experienced this.  THis only occurs on an incline, and not when the the road is flat or going downhill.  It seems the same before and after the clutch change.  Is this normal?  Thanks.

    Re: CGT Surging on incline?

OMG you go up inclines with full throttle Sorry have never heard of this issue, have you called your local P dealer, or perhaps PCA members have some info.

indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine..  I happen to like both :)

    Re: CGT Surging on incline?

By incline I mean a slight grade, probably no more than 5%

    Re: CGT Surging on incline?

I doubt this is normal, go see your dealer. Never heard of this.

I had a, sort of, similar issue with my Boxster. When starting or shifting in an incline the engagement point of the clutch was rather random and intermittently the engine surged (like in neutral). I took the car to the garage thinking the clutch was toast, but it turned out to be the gearbox. A new gearbox is on order Smiley

    Re: CGT Surging on incline?

The symptom you describe happened to me exactly once, right after a clutch change.  It happened when shifting into 3rd or 4th, I don't remember now, and applying full throttle.  It was almost like some junk was on the clutch face acting as a lubricant, preventing the clutch from hooking up.  It was really scary from an imagined durability point of view.  After the clutch cooled down, it never happened again.  The dealer had no clue, but after talking to the Tech Center, said not to worry about it.  I have done many track events since without a hint of a further issue.

If your car's symptom is recurring, it sounds like it needs more attention than did mine.

    Re: CGT Surging on incline?

Thanks for everyone's comments.  I will see what the dealer has to say as wheel.  I am thinking/hoping that maybe the clutch wasn't warmed up enough and the ascent worsened the situation.

    Re: CGT Surging on incline?

talking about the special clutch the GT has I had a discussion with a GT owner and he mentionned - without any links to the above discussion - that when he does not drive his GT for quite a while the clutch needs to "free" itself first a bit before he can give it a go... - could be exactly yr "problem" ? obviously if the car stands for a long time it needs a certain time to get warmed again.

I have no idea what your friend has experienced.  No matter how long my CGT sits idle, it always acts exactly the same when I revive it as when I last drove it.

can't argue it - but it sounded similar hence I brought it up.
