    You seem to be forgetting the F50 and the Enzo... unless they don't count as they were limited edition hypercars. Then again the GTO is limited edition itself, even though not as extreme and exotic as the two mentioned above.

    They really don't count as they were non-production model hyper cars. But even if they were considered, the Enzo was too ugly and the F50 though awesome sounding was too much like like an open wheel racer to be a serious car.

    This GTO is the pinnacle of Ferrari car building - sound, luxury, performance, and even looks - all combined make it their best product.

     Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Personally, I find the Enzo stunning!!! But I can see where you are coming from regarding the non-production status of the Enzo and the F50.

    Not really mate. For example, I don't fancy the 550 particularly and never really liked it since the day it was launched. I am not saying it's horrible, just not gobsmacking enough for a Ferrari. That's why I adore the Enzo. It's out of this planet; outrageous performance and looks combined!

    I went on a group ride a few years ago where myself in my car and another guy in the area in his stradale drove down to another state to meet up with a group at a collectors garage. The garage was just an average garage but here are the pics taken by a very good young photographer.

    The owner was going to drive his enzo that day but the battery was dead, so he took his 430. But I was able to look at all these up close. He was a great host and very generous with his collection.

    IMO the 288 GTO has the best rear and front views of any ferrari, the enzo did nothing for me, the F50 did not even seem like a street car. It was a unique day.

    That's too bad and a tough choice. The CGT is the best Porsche road car ever (until the 918 hits the road) and if you keep it as a museum piece with 10 miles on it, then it will stay real special.

    However if you were intending to drive both for the pleasure of it, then it's a very close call. The sound is about even - amazing. The interior has to go to the 599 and the tech also goes to the 599 with the paddles. Performance must be real close with the 599 taking a slight lead. The exterior is a win for the CGT in black.

    Either way, you really end up with an incredible car.Cancel the panny order, sell the 430 and get your spot back.Smiley

    The Carrera GT (with the newly developed Michelins) is the superior performane car and it offers pure race car feeling which the 599GTO could never do in a comparable way. The 599GTO is much easier to drive fast, though.

    In the end, the 599GTO is just an improved 599. If you ask me you acted 100% right Smiley

    Don't get me wrong. I don't regret getting the Carrera GT over the 599 GTO at all. I should have maybe just gone out on the limb and kept my allocation anyways. I think both are phenomenal and unique in their own way.

     There is a certain truth to that last statement of yours. However, do you think the 599GTO will still be considered an important high-performance car in 10 or 15 years from now? I don't think so. The GTO is a car to use and then sell. The Carrera GT is a car to keep...

     My thoughts exactly, the GTO is very cool but doesn't have that timeless thing of the CGT.

It's very much a retro-race car in terms of nature of the car -  i.e. like the days of yore, you need to be a very skilled driver to drive this car at anything above a brisk pace or it'll kill you! Not like today's supercars where so much electrical wizardry and nannies will basically let a Hyundai driver get behind the wheel and drive like a F1 star.

    My question is, why would Ferrari make the GTO even more powerful and better than the Enzo? I thought they would have held back a bit for the Enzo successor.

     I know what you mean, and i agree that the GTO is a success at achieving that. but it will still be a tuned version of the 599 ( an unbelievably fast and incredibly good one nonetheless) but the CGT is a unique model, there will never be a real "replacement" or "successor" to it. maybe another singular car for the same market, but still not the same.

    No and Yes at least according to the guys who have ordered, driven and taken delivery of their GTO's on a thread at Fchat. It was a very interesting discussion. They believe it is much more than just another 599, they believe it is worthy of GTO and in general some believe it's the best thing since sliced bread.

    It sure looks and sounds like a special car to me.

    To me Ferrari finally made a GT that looks great - from a shape point of view that is aggressive and classy. This one is the same color as my 928 and the best color for the GTO.

    It's the silhouette shape if seen at night that is what first attracts me to a car and then all the little details later, but in general shape very similar and to me a great shape.

     GTO is probably the best Ferrari made since the Enzo. It's is just stunning, brutally fast, and the exhaust is awesome.

    However, no modern car is worth $450K to me. I'll just hope these depreciate  like the rest of modern supercars and get one for half off in 3 years. Or the next v12 will be better ;)

    Personally, I'd love to buy 599 GTO in a heart beat if I had the fund.

    On the other hand Carrera GT becomes a classic, and it is more special because of its technology and limited numbers.

    However, I like the looks of GTO more and prefer clutchless transmission.

    Fully agree. IMHO sequential manuals are DEAD. F1 in Scud, e-gear in Lambo, Sportshi(f)t in Aston are belonging in the past. Period.

    After I heard that Lambo could use again(SmileySmileySmiley) sequential manual on their next gen cars I could not belived what I heard... Then Lambo marketing explained that most of their buyers actually like jerkiness.SmileySmileySmiley  They love that kick in their heads and butts.Smiley 

    BUT, do they love that jerkiness in everyday driving? NO. But, they say: who drives a sportscar everyday?

    Hmm... 458 Italia, 997.2 Turbo PDK/Turbo S, MP4-12C, SLS AMG etc. buyer apparently.

    DCT anytime for me. Or true manual if I am purist.

    GTO has the exact same gearbox as scuderia. So no dct. Ferrari customers also prefer some jerkiness when they change gears at 60msecs. And I can say I blame them! The only issue I have is how long the tranny/clutch will last..!

    Did you drove latest Cali? I did not feel that lag in two Cali test drives.

    Did you try 458? NO lag.
