    Nice number of kms indeed.Smiley

BTW, we can only hope that new generation of DFI Porsche engine will be durable. First indications are mixed unfortunately...

    Thanks Kreso! Smiley

I sure hope they iron any quirks out before I jump into a 991 with the DFI engine Smiley

Carlos - I was just thinking you must have carefully planned that trip reading of 91.1 Smiley

I guess you re-set it at 99.908.9Km Smiley

Did you miss a re-set at 99.089, which would have given a straight 911 reading? Smiley

    Really good forward thinking...Smiley

Hi John! its funny because I was comming back home on the higway when I realised I coould re-set the partial odo too and make it so that 911 would appear on it at the same time of the 100000km mark, and turns out that the time to reset the odo was at that very moment, (I was just 89km left for the 100k mark) so I reset it as quick as I could and made it before the km passed. Would of been nicer if it read 911.0 but... Smiley its funny the thought of the odo came to me on the exact km when I need to do the reset Smiley

    Re: 100,000Km!

    Carlos, that is one of the happiest posts in a very long time.... it reminds me that I feel very sad when I see so many performance cars sold after 2-3 years with only 6000 km etc.   These owners are wasting so much of their investment... and their life!!    Very happy to see you don't fall into this category;

Muy buena suerte para sus kilometros siguiente....  Smiley

    Re: 100,000Km!

    Gracias 4trac!!

I realise that unfortuantely there are situations for many people that make a daily driver sportcar unreasonable like negative image at work, 1-2 gear traffic jam commutes, not enough space in rear for passengers, tough winter weather, bad roads, etc... I'm very fortunate I can use it as a daily driver and enjoy driving it everyday!      I just wish the future 991 GT3 will get optional rear seats and I will be the happiest man on earth!

Congratulations !!!   I remember your car from the beginning ..... So you do about 20'000 km a year, a good average... the 911 is the best daily sports car on the market

X2! Smiley I don't think I would be so worry free on using it as high milage a daily driver on another Sportcar "of the same level" of sportiness as the 911. And I had the same experience with my previous 996 as well.

    So waht' s the next plan ? The 991 carrera s ? The 991 Gt3 ? A 997 GT3 RS ?

At the moment I tend very strongly for a 997.2 GT3 second hand....but not sure I will take the jump, unless someone gives me a lot of money for my current car Smiley

    Re: 100,000Km!

Right now my favorite car in the lineup by far is the 997.2 GT3, and two of the problems I had with the GT3 for daily use were lack of PSM and front ground clearance, and with the new GT3 that is fixed,  the problem still for me is that I need rear seats, I use them for my daughter from time to time (and occasional passenger) which I don't want to give up having in the car. So for me next most likely it will be a future 991 CarreraS or the likes.

The 997.2GT3 is an dream car, go for it!

But then I would also have to give up taking my kids to school ... or give up on the Porsche as being my daily driver ..... and I do not want to consider a big depreciation hit on my current car

So.. I will see...Smiley  but would absolutly love a 997.2 Gt3....it's exactly the car I need Smiley

Thanks Futch! 55,000 is a fair number as well, considering I don't think I would have 100,000 on the 997 if I had your other cars as well to share that milage with SmileySmiley

Yep, Carlos is a Porsche 911 man through and through Smiley Smiley

It reminds me of something similar .... I have lost count of the number of times I have been driving along, not focussing on the odometer, and then I suddenly look down at the odometer and it just happens to be the exact mileage for the next 1000 miles getting completed. I don't consciously try to see it but it just happens Smiley

I think it's because we really develop a strong emotional bond with our 911s Smiley Smiley Smiley

The corollary of this is that the 911 is the kind of car that inspires and generates such feelings within us Smiley Smiley Smiley

    Re: 100,000Km!

Great post - these cars really are for using.  I use mine everyday (excepting extreme snow) and do about 18 000 miles per year - just over 18 months old I am at 27K miles and plan to run the car through to around 80K miles which I anticipate being when I can get the 991 in the guise I choose.

    Re: 100,000Km!

Thanks Christian! and the best part is that car is as good as the first day, then again most of its km is highway use going to and from neighboring cities which is easy on the car, and they are enjoyable too as opposed to lower speed communtes and traffic, my trip computer shows an overall average speed of 98km/h

I will likely hold on to it until the 991, so there still time for a few more km

    --

    Re: 100,000Km!

Yep, waiting for the 991 is a good choice, the 991 is going to be the hell of a car and it may even be better for commuting your kid.

Have fun ! My 997 Turbo just sits in the garage and rots... ...no time to drive it.

That is a very fast average !!!!! You must be doing only highways.

Mine shows 56 km/h and I do about 22'000 km per year with my C2S .Smiley  Yes, I spend lot sof time in it Smiley
