True indeed...
On the other hand I simply can not love this car since it looks all wrong IMHO... How do you feel about it?
I think the word that describes the SLS best is "special". It's a really special car, with special looks. Sure it will have a great engine, great technique, will deliver a great drive, but I just can't get over its looks. Saw one on the autobahn recently and it looked, well, special, but not really my cup of tea. Give me a 997.2 turbo for less or a 458 Italia for slightly more.

Taking your line of argument a step further: is the typical MB customer interested in "special" cars... Probably not. That's why I always thought that the SLS does not fit into MB's lineup at all
Did someone mention me
I really like the look of this car I have to say and the more tests I read of it the better it sounds. I appreciate that not everyone likes it and I'm surprised I find myself liking the styling of a Mercedes at all as I've been indifferent to them for years. Perhaps I'm exactly the sort of "conquest" customer they're after with this model. It won't make me rush out and buy and S, E, C or any other prefix class though

To me the word is "unbalanced". The hood is so long as to be a caricature of this traditional style, and makes the car look too long in front and too truncated at the back. Ferrari, with a similar drivetrain layout and identical dimensions, managed to make the 599 far more flowing and balanced. Too bad because I agree that the tech. details show promise for M-B, and I don't doubt that it drives well.

Future: 2010 Cayman S - pending order; 2010 Audi S5 - on order
In silver it doesn't look that bad after all. It's not a wedge (aka italian supercar). It's a super sportscar in the vein of the old-school Aston Martins; a usable sportscar that is also very quick and distinctive, if not as exciting as a thoroughbred.

I'll take an SLS over my Turbo anytime. I'm not talking about looks - which are subjective. What I am talking about is CHARACTER. It sounds great, has immediate engine response, a brilliant transmission and handles very, very well.
The Turbo sounds horrible, has significan turbo lag, and requires special attention when pushed hard, due to its rear engine configuration. I've experienced some scary moments while pushing it hard on public roads. Where unexpected bumps can alter its dynamics - more so than other sports cars IMO.
The GT3 would be the only model I would consider in the future. Too bad it doesn't have more power.
By the way - MB produces AMG models for those wanting special vehicles. Their sales success speaks for itselt.

Today, i took a black SLS for a spin. WooooooooW
The car was amaaaaazin!! AMG outdid themselves. Feels and drives like an uber sportcar. I feel sorry for anyone who has an SLR.
The interior looked much better than what i saw in the pic. I'm 193cm and i felt very comfortable sitting in it for over an hour. Getting in was no problem but getting out was a bit strange. I do agree with Nick who was saying that car has a very long bonnet, It will require some major getting used to, and dont even dare getting it without front parking censors.
Overall, it's a fantastic car worth every penny. I highly recommend it. Way better than the California or R8 V10.
P.S. the dealer had 2 cars for sale with 0 premium, which is very strange for such a car in my country.
