    997.2 Turbo 3.8L motor paperweight

Anyone else receive this  gift from Porsche ? It's a die cast model  and includes  the intercoolers, air  intake box and exhaust .

Came with a  nice hardbound 30 pg book describing the new car's tech

( as opposed to the Panamera box that I got 2 weeks ago that had a very cheesy, very inaccurate set of underlays to mix/match exterior/interior layout )

No, man!  Lucky you!  Any pics?

But just 2 days ago I got a call from Porsche asking me to confirm my contact details - now I'm really excited!!  Hope it's not for nothing!!

I am off Piech Xmas shopping list, I will never get any gifts from Porsche. Lucky you.

Re: 997.2 Turbo 3.8L motor paperweight

Yeah i got mine about 5 weeks ago. Not sure why they sent it to me as i never expressed any interest in a Turbo. I have a deposit down for a GT3 with an option for RS, but i never received the RS wing paper weight that other people got....

Re: 997.2 Turbo 3.8L motor paperweight

    Nice, got any pics?

    Thanks Greg!
Looks neat, they must really want you to buy a car of theirs! ;-) Any plans in that direction?

Damn it Greg, that looks super nice and I want one.

Ferdie Piech, you listening? You are the greatest human being on earth, now send me one of those.

No. For me I rather buy early version's of a new model then buy .2's.  I think you get the most enjoyment out of P-sports cars cars that way. Plus with the 997 Turbo why would I trade in my car for an unproven engine? My car is spec'd & modified exactly the way I want it too & I'm almost looking forward to the end of the warranty so it would make sense to do some ECU, etc tuning. I'm already at approx. the same power as a stock 997 turbo .2 with just an exhaust anyway. Plus I prefer the rear of the original 997 Turbo better & would only buy a 6-speed so there's not much of an incentive to trade for a Turbo .2... So for me I'm going to wait for the next generation Turbo Cab. If I didn't already own one spec'd the way I want the .2 Cab would be the DD car for me though.

    How bout you?

Sounds reasonable. If you have to buy every new porsche model, you'll be buying a new car every half year! :P

And me?!? lol, I am just lusting... For me, Porsches are just dreams. And realistically, the coming years the cost of owning one is not yet in perspective with my income. :P

Re: 997.2 Turbo 3.8L motor paperweight

     I mentioned this elsewhere..., anyway:

It's funny that the pleasure and anticipation involved in unwrapping the slick and somewhat sumptuous packaging is about equal to the duration and intensity of enjoyment of the the trinket inside.

I wonder how many of these paperweights actually see the light of day after five minutes. All my Porsche "goodies" are in their original boxes in one of my closets somwhere.

Oh! The original 997 promotional picture with my surname on the rear license plate? THAT did make it into a picture frame and is hung on a wall.

    Exactly.

Does Porsche still send out the Crests w/ VIN #'s? I received one w/ my 2002 996 Turbo but haven't since then. The motor paperweight I put on my desk next to a business card holder of the same stuff.  iphonepics 037.jpg
