Launch of 9X7 successors postponed + design changes + more VW parts ?
According to a report from "Automobilwoche" (sorry no link, electronic version not available) Piech/Winterkorn plan significant changes for the 9X7 successor models:
(1) Both successor models for the 911 and the Boxster shall receive much more VW/AUDI parts.
(2) Piech is not happy with the design and commands changes of the front / rear for both models (no word on the details of such changes - maybe more part sharing between 911 and Boxster á lá 9X6 )
(3) The changes will cause a big delay for the cars' market introductions: 997 successor - probably 2nd HY 2012, Boxster 2013
(4) "987 R" (anyone recalls the spy pics of the Speedster like Boxster ?) may be cancelled.
(5) These measures shall create savings of 700 m€
Like always - take it with a grain of salt. The article mentions that Porsche's suppliers are already informed, hence I guess more infos will pop up soon, if Automobilwoche's report tells the truth.
