CloseAfter seeing the latest BBQ of an Enzo, boy am I glad I didn't buy a Ferrari. I am guessing the fire extinguisher option is mandatory now.
My wife's brother-in-law who drives a 599 had just bought 2 fire-extinguishers for his car and his wife had already refuse to sit in the Ferrari anymore. She is pushing for him to replace it with a 997TT, much much safer in her eyes and much much mor reliable.
Another + for the TT.

I remember a F360 Modena which caught fire on the road, in my area BUT the car was modified with turbo charges and they were the reason of the fire.
No one hurt but the car was wrecked.

I would think that this is not necessary at all. The Fcar is a safe car, as Porsche is, too.
I havent heard about a burning 599 yet. The Enzo, F40 which have been burning, are high peformance super sport cars, which is a complete other story. Many of the burning cars have been in accidents, others have been as Pride355 already said highly modified. So for me, not reason to worrie

Don't say so. Once people start to believe that Ferraris are not safe, everyone starts to sell their Scuderias 
Then the prices will have deep impact so that we can have one at an M3 price.

I don't think one should gloat or take any pleasure in this happening - it's shocking and terrible - and consumers have every right to expect much, much more from a car manufacturer. And schadenfreude is a very unattractive attribute IMO.

Actually she does web browse, well youtube-ing is her entertainment and she was the one finding the videos of burning Ferraris.
On a more serious note, we hear more about Ferrari buring more than anyting else, would it be the way how Ferrari route their fuel lines and oil lines within the engine bay? R8 also has been known to go up in flames too, and Heist just posted a Gallardo burning not long ago. Fire problem can't just be blamed on mid-engine as the front engine Ferraris burn too.

Grant, so 1 out of six? Did someone set that car on fire?
I was driving to the airport and it started to smoke. I pulled over and looked under the hood and flames shot out and engulfed the car. I had time to get my luggage out of the back hatch, but that was it. Watched it burn while the fire dept. came to extiguish it. Was a total loss (except for a few parts). Was a very nice1988 944 Turbo S with some track mods.

I don't dwell on the fire issue, but I assure you in the event of fire, hopefully I am out of there with no thought of trying to put out an mid engine fire with a hand held extinguisher.. That is what insurance is for.
I do have extinguishers in the garage.

You might consider leaving the F car in Neutral so you can pull it outside in a hurry if you smell smoke. No kidding, the chances are small but if the gearbox is in Park or in gear rolling it outside is more dangerous or impossible.
Me too: I have biggy extinguishers in the garage and all over the place. Even next to the fireplace.
OTOH, if my car starts to burn where it's "safe" like on a roadside and everybody is clear of it, I'm just gonna watch it. No attempt to extinguish it. Car's not salvageable after what? Two minutes? Three minutes of flaming destruction? You can get killed next to a burning car with a mini-fire extinguisher in hand.
