Hmm Al,
I am not convinced that this looks better than the original. However, I must admit that that is because I know how the original looks.
When are you going to take the plunge towards a 997 ttcab? Maybe Rami has something special to your likings? (RUF RT12 cab for sale ;-) )
-Joost-
Joost, yes Rami's car would be fun, but there would be a problem with federalization for the USA, and I am still mulling over a 997GT2-and there is a Manthey importer in the States now (RAC that owns RUF Auto Centre in Texas), and Manthey has a 600+ kit for the 997GT2. But I really love my hypertuned 993TT (now up to 700HP), and I have my hypertuned Noble for the occasional track days. As for 996 Turbo headlamps, I still prefer the original round over Pinky Lai's design, but the Techart pieces were an OK compromise for me aesthetically. Here are my 996TT stock nose, 996 with Techart covers, compared to my 993TT nose:

Still stunning cars Al... start drooling every tim eI see pictures of them ;-)
That federalization you mentioned... is that the same problems as when you try to import a 959? I remember you having difficulties with importing the noble as well, didn't you?

Joost, yes, the federalization is mainly a very expensive legal requirement that kills the so-called gray market for cars here (buying one from another country and importing it for road use here). This applies to the 959 or Rami's car.
However, the Noble is a different story. That car was a pain to get registered because it falls under the component car or "kit" car rules here, so it came to the USA as a rolling chassis (from South Africa), with engine and tranny installed "independent" of the purchase. This gets around onerous federalization rules for all Nobles in the USA, and allows us to use these cars on the road (in New York State) without the need for emissions and safety requirements of standard road cars (hence I have a free-flow exhaust and no airbags in my Noble-but it's safe-it has a roll cage). The bureaucracy I had to deal with registering the car in New York State was several months of inspections and paperwork...but worth it in the end.
Al
