    Porsche LMP 1?

    Anyone have anymore news on Porsche's possible LMP1 program? Or any inside Porsche info on a planned program on the future? I just can't wait until they announce such a program, hopefully after their GrandAm is done.

    I think the LMP1 rules favour diesel engined cars right now. The rules are expected to change in 2010(?) so after that there is a possibility.

    Patrick Long: I hope that one day we'll be back running for overall. I think it's dependant on the rules and regulations and hopefully some stability will come in the future and Porsche will be taking part.

    While I laud Audi on their win at Sebring yesterday, we certainly missed Porsche in the LMP class..Let's hope Patrick is right that we will see Porsche back in 2011.  Of the Penske LMP2 drivers, Sascha Maassen seems to have the lightest schedule this year. Perhaps he's working with the Porsche Motorsport engineers on an LMP1 car development.
