Dashboard Squeaks

I would have squeaks from the dash depending on the outside temps,etc. These squeaks would emanate from where the instrument pod was touching the dash or the pilar next to the dash.
I don't have full leather so I figured it was probably because the plastic was too rigid and would rub when the body flexed. I assume this is less likely to happen with leather to leather touching.

How many of you have noticed and heard a squeaking?
I bought a can of silicon spray and ever since I sprayed these areas it has stopped squeaking.

It's amazing how a little squeak can drive you nuts .

The dealers use silicon spray to correct many squeaks--works great. Silicon tape and felt tape also work on other cabin noises.

I have full leather in my GT3.
Have yet to hear a squeak. My old C2 was really squeaky, but with the GT3 I hear nothing.

Lon, you're supposed to listen to the engine sound, not to squeaks.

I always had squeaks during cold periods of the year. The GT3 is a pretty rigid car, you can't have no squeaks at all, sorry to say that. But if the get annoying, tell your dealer. He has to do something about it.

I have a gt2 with all leather interior and it has the squeaks you are talking about, totally annoying and unfortunately most noisy in warm weather, seems to go away when it is colder outside. I would be afraid to let the dealer mess with my car they might tear or scratch something plus I know a few 911 owners who have taken their car in for service for the exact same problem and not 1 of them was able to have the problem fixed. I took half my own car apart trying to fix the problem and had no luck I finally just gave up and I hope it fixes itself which it sort of has done. My problem seems to be where the dash meets the windshield, and I soaked it with armor all but it didn't seem to help. How and where did you spray the silicone on the dash so I can try. Thanks Jamie

Another potential cause of squeaks that are coming from that area is the windshield weatherstripping. Apply some silicon spray between the rubber and windshield. Worked great on my car--but you'll need to reapply after a few months.

You mean silicone spray. Silicon is a popular material for the fabrication of integrated circuits and a major component of sand. As I like to explain the difference to people Silicon Valley is so named due to all the chip manufacturers that started there. Silicone Valley is in southern CA and is the home to most of the porn industry although I'm not sure if it was breast implants or lube that suggested the name.

Living in the SF bay area, it does make me laugh when somebody from another part of the country or world refers to it as sil-i-cone valley!

I would highly recommend to leave that to your Porsche dealer. It took them 2 weeks to find the reasons for the squeaks in my car (also with full leather - no scratched afterwards) - but now the car is quiet

Just insist that the car has to be absolutely quiet. In my case it helped to remind them that my Modena is quiet as well

Jamie,

The spray comes with a long thin tube that connects to the nozzle. I sprayed the junction of the dash with the instrument pod and the pilar. So far the squeaking has stopped. I figure I will have to do it again over time.

I get a buzz from the drivers door in my full leather '03 c4s. The dealer here in Austin has tried twice to fix it so far with no luck. The buzz occurs when the car is idling and can be silenced by pushing lightly on the speaker or any portion of the front half of the door.

Anyone else experienced this problem?
