    Remembering Ben

    Re: Remembering Ben

    Thanks Ron.

I really dont know what to say, i think it is in this moments that the wosh doesn't exhist, that words dont come from my mouth.

It's in this moments that we apreciate how lucky we are to be alive, with our friends and family.

Probabbly my reply doesnt make any sense but it's just that i really dont know what to say.

A big WOSHHHHHHHHHHH for you Ben.

    Re: Remembering Ben

Ron thank you for the post. I will be sure that Charlotte his wife gets it.

The remembrance letter truly captures what Ben was all about and his approach to life. Ben was one special guy.

    Re: Remembering Ben

    Ben was an awesome guy

    Re: Remembering Ben

I didnt knew Ben personally but according to the article really made me think how nice he was.
    He will be truly missed

    Re: Remembering Ben

Awesome article, I didn't know Ben never talked with him, but I can truly understand what he did for the whole automotive community.

We miss you Ben and we will see you soon!

    Re: Remembering Ben

I don't quite know the english saying, but there is one expression that comes to my mind: "Those loved by the gods are the ones that are taken to them early"
    -Joost-

    Re: Remembering Ben

Can you believe that it has already been 7 months since that fateful day. It felt as if it were just yesterday since last reading one of Ben's posts. Thank you for scanning in those articles Ron!

You will be forever missed and never forgotten Ben!

    Re: Remembering Ben

Super letter, very well written .

    Re: Remembering Ben

Life goes on, people live their lives, some forget, some not...life can be beautiful but it can be over in an instant.

Enjoy life, thank god or whoever you believe in for the day you had and the day which comes ahead and pray for those who lost their loved ones...

Ben, we won't forget you, we miss you but you know who misses you most. Nobody should die enjoying life like you did.

    Re: Remembering Ben

The influence is more aparent today.
Im sure Im not alone in this, I feel like Im making better long term decisions amongst friends and life in general. Also identifying good things when they happen and soaking in good moments, almost milking them. The days of taking these good things for granted are long over.

I dont know, maybe Im just getting older but I reflect often and this seems to be the source.

Anyone else notice a long term positive attitude/behavior change?...almost 2 years later...

    Yup, yup.

Definetely. Whenever I'm tempted to drive a "bit" faster than would be healthy for me, I start thinking about my kids and Ben, can't help it. Suddenly my throttle foot reduces pressure by at least 10%. Maybe Ben's fate saved me (and others) from a similar fate, so at least his memory does something good for other people.

Another impact: a good friend and Rennteam buddy bought himself a Carrera GT. Since I know how fast my friend drives, even if he definetely has the skills, I always have Ben's fate in my mind and I start to worry. When my friend asked me if he should buy the CGT, I was pretty concerned. I know he drives very fast and I know he loves risks, so I tried to "warn" him, maybe too much because my friend apparently didn't like my warnings too much. He still enjoys his CGT and I think that with each day passing, he gets more and more used to that car. Still...I worry.

I have a very similar situation although not car related. Its like people dont know how dangerous simple joys can become unless they witness a trajedy themselves. I pressured a friend about something to a level I normally wouldnt have done just because I know they take it for granted. Its hard to force people to realize what they are dealing with. Life is like an on/off switch.
I too have been very responsible with my driving lately (knock on wood). Tomorrow Im going on a cruise through some mountain roads and Im not goiing to push it, If anything Im going to try and prepare for the unexpected, or atleast be open minded to the infinite dangerous possibilities.
Im still going to hav efun though We know the risks in loving cars.
