    Cab Question - Windows Go Up When Top Goes Down

    When putting the top down, the last part of the cycle is to make the side windows go up. I would have thought that if I'm putting the top down I want to have the car open. So why do the windows then go up? Is there a way to have the cycle stop after the top and windows have gone down?

    The windows are up to keep the wind noise down. You can let go the button as soon as the top is completely opened before the windows start to go up. It may take a few times for you to learn the timing though. I envy that you can still open your top in the sunny Florida in January.

    As 997 S cab says, there is no way to disable that function. You're just going to have to learn to get your timing right

    I can just agree, i release the button at the point the windows start to come up, then i'm sure the roof is sealed in its compartment.

    I also find it a little anoying, but i think we're spoiled...
    YOu just have to tip the windowbuttons... not quite a heavy job...

    I think the weird thing is that the REAR side windows do not raise after the main windows raise. So I always catch myself..

    1. Winding down the main windows, since I didnt catch them at the exact right time (Porsche should consider and audible when the top is secure)

    OR

    2. Manually winding the rear side windows up after..since it looks better

    My 996 cab had a slight delay when putting the top down...before the windows went up. As mentioned here, the 997 cabs have no such delay and it is almost impossible to put the top down without the windows popping up.

    I too went topless yesterday. It is great to live in a place where you can enjoy a cab year around.

    I had the day off today, 77 and not a cloud in the sky.
    Cruising by the beach i passed a coupe, and all could think was....sucker!
    I do love the coupe but with weather like this, cab is the only option

    I'll put up with the window thing and much more to have a cab that you can drop the top at 30mph!

    Ditto. I love being able to open and close the top while moving. What a great feature!

    I have a Cab too, love it, and wouldn't think of trading it for a coupe but I still think the coupe looks better.
