    Oil consumption

    My base 997 only have 320 miles and already have two bar down on the oil measurement. Is it taking too much oil??? Drive it five time and aveage 30 miles each way. What do you all think??? Help and comment.

    How many miles do you have on yours. However, when I first got mine, it had already have on bar down and the tech said it should be O.K. and ask me to wait a bit before adding oil

    1800 miles now, the bar hasn't moved since I picked it up. It's like 1 down from the top-fullest bar.

    3000 miles and it's had 2 litres.

    The engine burns oil more when warming up. That means the more times you do individual trips (from stone cold engine) the more oil will be burned.

    When engine is breaking in it burns lots of oil.
    I'd say don;t worry about it, you'll probably b fine (other ideas in thread so far are good)

    It was one bar down when it was deliveied

    I have just over 6000 miles and my 2006 "s" has drank around a quart every 1500 miles.... just went to the dealer to take care of some growing pains (wind noise, radio, etc) and he said that that is not out of the ordinary. There are no visable leaks.

    800 miles and I am one bar down, I will not add until I am all the way down to the lower arrow which is below the last square

    I have about 2800 miles on my 997S and have added two quarts and am presently down 1 bar. I also talked to my dealer about oil consumption and he said don't be concerned. It is not out the ordinary, depending on driving characteristics, to use 1 quart every 1000 miles during break-in period. It should decrease as the miles increase.
