    2007 Audi S6: Refined Power in the Sports Luxury Class

    The S6 gets "only" 420hp, I guess it would be faster than the S8 if it had the same 450 hp:

    No, it is 5.2l V10 with 420hp@6800rpm and 540Nm@3000-4000rpm, 0-100km/h in 5.2s, 1910kg net weight.
    6speed automatic gearbox... Front discs 385mm, rears 335mm... Nice car but, IMO no match for M5...

    Does it have a DSG gearbox ? or the regular A6 multitronic ?

    No DSG! Regular Audi 6speed tiptronic auto box. You have tips on steering wheel. This tipronic should be faster then normal Audi automatic...

    Looking at those specs I'd have to agree. To me the M5 is still THE sports sedan.
    I do like the look of the S6 though. Any idea on pricing?

    The S6 and S8 will have Tip first year, then the same 7 speed DSG as on the RS6 second year.
    The S6 Avant will replace our MBZ 4Matic Whale , I mean, Wagon for getting to our Tahoe place. AWD with a set of Nokian WR AWP2 tires and a V10 with 8500 rpm redline will make getting there and driving around there muy fun in snowy weather ! Who wants to wallow around in an SUV truck, even a Q7 or Cayenne Turbo ?

    Looking forward to trying it. I spent some time in an S4 and loved it -- a blast driving something so low-key looking that can smoke by everyone when I drop the hammer down on it. Very cool sounding too. I'm sure the S6 is all the more thrilling.
