    997 Powerkit update

    Approaching 4000 km.
It's official, every outting in this car is an event.
Carlito Dudito, I almost thought about coming to see you.
left Paris on Thu morning and drove all the way down to Bilbao (OT, the Guggenheim museum is worth the trip alone!).
The car shines everywhere, motorway but mostly those awesome small country spanish roads of course, from Diba til Mudaka, make the detour via Gernika, it's pure bliss! The engine is fantastic, the brakes, the chassis, I know, I repeat myself everytime, but I can't help it.
Surprisingly, this car gives me more confidence than my previous 4WD 996, grip is phenomenal, you keep pushing and yet, there's still more grip, I gave up on the super fast motorway from Bilbao to San Sebastian, 200 kmh on those fast sweeping curves was my limit. Keeping in mind the legal speed limit of 120!
Three day break and the car was awesome, trip computer is fantastic, the Circuit option of the nav system is great, and all the features work perfectly, hotels, parking, etc. all on the screen.
Next step installing clear bra front and rear in two weeks and first track day early feb at Lurcy Levis, should be a blast.
    Ciao for now.

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

A sample of what I had for a whole day. Actually, by the end of the day, it's tiring.

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

That's awesome that you're enjoying the 997 so much. That's what they're for.

    Happy Motoring! Matt

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

OT: This is a pic taken from Mundaka's harbor, it used to be a world class wave, left hand breaker through the whole bay, sadly some work upstream of the river have destroyed the wave, it is very sad...
Billabong had to cancel the WCT leg of the championship this year.
Let's hope it comes back one day.

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

OT: Meanwhile, in Guethary, almost triple overhead perfect waves. Perfect surf and a fantastic car: Heaven!

    Beautiful!

Somewhat reminds me of Northern California.
    Is half the tread gone?

    Thanks,
    what's a tread?

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

My 997 ordered has been delayed at least 2 months. I will enjoy your post and pictures instead.

    Recommended by my Ferrari mates.
It's mostly recommended if you track your car.
My 996 front spoiler was like grated cheese after only three events.
It's not gonna happen this time.
Apparently, you can't see it and it's very effective, we'll see.
I'm only getting the front and rear spoiler done and the front light.
You can get the front hood done but you can see a line across the hood, not very pretty.

    Sorry, got it, tyre tread!
No it seems fine so far, haven't driven like a maniac all trip.
Tyres should hold til my march outtings at F1 track Magny Cours, then I switch to Michelin sport Pilot 2 which I prefer anyway.

What is the clear bra for the rear of the car? What does it cover?

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

Great pics, thanks for the post.

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

Awesome report and pictures Fanch! Thanks so much for sharing- way, way cool!

FWIW, I'm finally placing my order tomorrow...C4S Cab, X51, PCCB, Sport Chrono,... then the very long, agonizing wait!

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

Super! Must have been a blast!

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

Beautiful car, and beautiful pictures! I am taking my first visit to Spain in May and I only wish I could take my 997 along for the ride.

    Keep on driving!
    Ray

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

Fanch!!! I am also aproching 4000 km and loving it too!! Great pics!
Those spanish roads seem to be worth a trip to! So many roads, so little time.....
and the surf pics just finish it up beautifully
    but where are the girls?

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

    Gnil,

I agree, where are the women...only thing missing from an otherwise awesome post!

Hollli: How did you learn this?? via the PCNA e-DCS status??

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

    Sorry, to hear that Hollli!

I'm guessing because of the X51- they are back-ordered for a few months??? I hope they get this sorted out very soon !

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

Great car, great roads, great scenery. Congrats on making the drive and actually getting out there.

    Re: 997 Powerkit update

    Franch,

Good to see that you liked my land. Actually, the Basque Country roads are a must for sporty driving. As soon as you approach the coast excitement grows... I can imagine the sound of your PSE through the trees!

What is the clear bra for the rear of the car? What does it cover?

It will cover the whole rear bumper. Definitely not as useful as the front bra, it'll be mostly for whenever I park in Paris since French drivers park bumper to bumper.
It won't really protect from small hits but hopefully minor scratches, every little helps.

    Gnil,
It was 10 degrees, no girls in Bikinis on the beach when it's that cold!

Watch out for the big fishes!
