Interesting comment in Autoweek regarding the long term

review if the 997 S. I must say the car receives more kudo's than I have seen in a long time. Anyway here is what they wrote:

"I can almost see why some people get an attitude about Porsche drivers and owners---the car does give you the feeling that it is superior to anything on the road--and backs it up"

Now I hope you owners of the S do not act that way because if you do keep one thing in mind; IT IS BUTT UGLY! .

Re: Interesting comment in Autoweek regarding the long term

Now why are there 5 F430's for sale in the back of Autoweek....maybe they read the article

Re: Interesting comment in Autoweek regarding the long term

Is this forum now a kindergarden playground?

Re: Interesting comment in Autoweek regarding the long term

the trend of selling F equipped cars will be the same as it was with the F360.
like a lot of toys, from childhood all the way to adulthood, the anticipation of acquisition is more rewarding than the actual ownership experience
after a few drives, it becomes apparent that the F automatic tranny is boring . left with an expensive toy that you can't drive anywhere except the country club why not dump these invariably low mileage cars on the next wantabee ?
I know all the reasons that the f1 is supposed to be superior, but reality is unless you are looking for the best lap time, a good old fashioned 6 speed is a lot more engaging for the driver.
I just can't see any of the recent f1 cars being collectable in the future.
a 6 speed will be much more desirable

    Such an intelligent comment, Nberry.
I thought this thread was moved over to the NICK'S INSECURITY/PPENIS ENVY FORUM??? waste of bandwidth.

My god you guy's are sensitive! Loosen up, the Autoweek comment was a compliment. My comment was a friendly jab; all in fun.

The "attitude" people get is their problem. Many have contempt for anybody who appears more suvccessful than thenselves.

The "butt ugly" remark is hard to justify because you would also have to say the aesthetics of polished river rocks are butt ugly; but all reasonable people would disagree.

    Next issue?

Thanks for that Nick! No worries. As a future 997S owner I'll be content to keep that sense of automotive superiority to myself.

Good that you do not have to look at it for too long ... as it is so much faster

Re: Interesting comment in Autoweek regarding the long term

    Interesting comments and stereotype.

Is the 997 ugly - well I guess that the definition of ugly is in the eye of the beholder, its a shame that you dont like the looks of the car that keeps on winning acclaim and awards around the world but everyone to his own. Its good to have people like yourself around with a different viewpoint to share, not sure why you want people to think your a childish arse though, unless its just the attention you need perhaps?

Re: Interesting comment in Autoweek regarding the long term

I can give you a professional opinion on "Butt Ugly" as I have seen more butts then all of you guys together. The smooth and silky design lines of a woman's body and a 997S can not be denied...perfection! Anybody who misses this obvious observation needs to recalibrate his point of reference; simply look in a mirror and see what the real "butt ugly" looks like. BUT, thank you for input and put the lid down when your done.

And I bet you've heard the word "push" more than any of us.
