    Cayenne Turbo S Versus Mercedes ML 63

    Hi again
    I wish everyone a happy and a prosperous new year
    I've got two questions...
    First .. I'm going to buy a new car soon.. But i'm still confused.. What to buy? My knowledge in cars is kind of fair.. Every car dealer tells me that his cars are the best..
    Now.. Shall I buy a Cayenne Turbo S or an ML 63?
    The ML is still doing better in performance.. but what about handling(Driving differences..etc)?
    Here's a quick Comparison:
    Cayenne Turbo S:
    0-100: 5.2 seconds
    Top Speed: 270 km/h
    Horsepower: 521
    Torque: 720
    ///////////////////
    ML 63 AMG:
    0-100: 5.0 seconds
    Top Speed: 250 (electronically limited)
    Horsepower: 510
    Torque: 630
    ========
    Second .. are the PSM and PTM the same? I mean does turning the PSM off means turning the PTM off too or each has a different switch?

    I was never a big Mercedes fan and since I used to own the CT i say forget them both. Anyhow there is no real need for a 4*4 in Dubai, but if you must get a RRSport(Performance not an issue) and save the rest of the money.

    LB.. I'm into driving 4x4 cars more
    Regarding the Range Rover sport.. I was once planning to get it... but then forgot all about it.. The exterior is great.. But .. have a look at the RRSport's interior.. It just didn't match my taste and to me, performance is important too

    The other day I saw an RRSport Black on black. The wood panelling was removed and replaced with white carbon fiber. Looked amazing. But out of your two choices, the CTS edges out. My only concern with the CTS are the specs depending on what u want car price goes up by alot. Furthermore a facelift is imminent in the next year or so.

    The ML looks a bit small IMO a bit disproportionate and alot more people will have the small engines with the AMG bodykits, hence making it look plain and mundane..

    Anyways whatever car you will be getting your going to be tearing up the highway leading to Jumeirah thats for sure.

    Actually first time i was down in Dubai i went out a thursday night to the place stuck the hard rock. Was full big crowd could not get a table so i decided to book a table for Friday night thinking it was going to be great.

    I forgot that Friday in Dubai is like Sunday in Europe. I was the only one there with my fruit dish and my sweets and the rest of the goodies... Felt like such an idiota

    If you don't have to make a decision NOW, wait for the facelifted Cayenne Turbo, rumored for MY 2008 (early summer 2007).
    It is difficult to compare the ML63 to the Cayenne Turbo S since both cars haven't been tested yet, especially not the ML63 AMG. I heard from a pretty reliable source that the ML63 is apparently much heavier than early official specs indicated, so maybe you want to wait until you read a review.

    One thing is for sure and I don't agree with the other poster: the Cayenne Turbo is a blast to drive, I own the powerkit version (which should be pretty close to the Turbo S...performance-wise) and it is a lot of fun to drive. Only annoying thing: the throttle hesitation, especially from standstill and the turbo boost delay.
    I would NEVER EVER give away my Cayenne Turbo for a Range Rover Sport. NEVER.

    Have to agree with RC, as usual.

    I agree that the RRS is an attractive vehicle, probably the most attractive (IMHO) of the traditional boxy style SUVs. Now, my personal taste is that I usually prefer the boxier styles, especially since they most often mean more usable cargo space. However, I really do think the current Cayenne styling is much more attractive for it's intended purposes (again, IMHO only). What I don't get is that, if there is ANY advantage (IMHO, - have I made that clear yet? ) to a Rover, it is in off-road performance and, as I have lamented frequently on this board about the Cayennes with larger wheels, the RRS with it's "duded-up" exterior and narrow profile tires is a shift in the wrong direction. Also, despite all the off-road history of the Rovers, all my friends with more recent versions have enough trouble keeping them running and out of the shop in town, so I don't think I'd be any more eager to take one to the deepest jungle than I would a Cayenne. Still, the price seems attractive and, if it's what a buyer wants,..happy sailing! Once again, aren't we lucky to live in an age when we can debate the merits of these ultrasophisticated vehicles based on our own skewed opinions, meanwhile second-guessing the auto-designers who are trying to simultaneously please brand loyalists and newbies?

    I would also suggest waiting a while if you can. It's pretty difficult to compare them now because they're both so new.

    I agree about the interior on the RR sport. just get into an LR3 and you would feel even more dissapointed that they didnt bother to distinguish the two apart on the interior except that the LR3 gets 2 sunroofs

    I went to the Mercedes-Benz German website. It now has the ML63 listed. It shows the base price of the ML63 AMG as 96.164,00 euros. Compare that with the base price of the ML500 at 63.220,00 euros. In Germany the base ML63 costs 52% more than the base ML500.

    Now I will use that same logic with USA prices. The base ML500 lists for $48,500.00. If you add 52% to that number, the ML63 should sell for $73,720.00.

    At that price, Mercedes should sell a bunch of them. It offers a lot of performance for the dollar. 0 to 60 MPH is faster than the $111,000 Turbo S. I look forward to seeing the two compared. I would expect the Cayenne to perform better in some areas. But, the ML63 is looking better all the time.

    A poster at another discussion group from Germany said he had ordered a ML63 and expected delivery in March. In an email I received from MBUSA they said it won't be available in the USA until August 2006. That doesn't make any sense....it is made here. When the new 2006 ML's came out, they were available in the USA three months before they arrived in Europe.

    ML63AMG with full options cost 109.000,00Euros in Germany and base price for Cayenne Turbo S is 117.573,00Euros. For me ML63 look like a better buy... But, we have to wait for the first tests in german auto press. BTW, facelifted SL is also out in Germany.

    You can view the new SL500 at www.mercedes-bez.de. Very slight changes to appearance. Different front grill with one less fin and different tail lights. I don't think you would notice the differences if you weren't looking for them. The most significant change is the engine. The SL500 will go from 302hp to 382hp.
