    Cayman bumper on a Boxster?

    Did anyone try to mount the Cayman frontbumper to a 987 Boxster? I think it should look pretty good. I am also sure that the parts would fit. Any thoughts? Thinking about doing this to my 987.

    I have been considering the same thing, I was hoping someone would try it first. I wonder how much the new foglamp assemblies would cost?

    The price for the required parts would be around 1,000 Euro. Already checked that... but I would love to see a picture of a Boxster with the Cayman bumper first.

    Yep, from the front. But I would like to see a side/front view with top down, to see the overall proportions. Pretty sure that it would look stunning though.

    Nah... I kinda like my 18" 'Boxster S wheels'. Cayman wheels look very Carrera GTish though.

    I agree totally. If you want your Boxster to look like a Cayman - buy a Cayman.

    Sorry, but that's Bullshit. The Cayman is a Boxster coupe with a better engine and the Boxster is a Cayman with a weaker engine, but a soft-top (i.e. both cars are 987). And yea... I prefer the frontbumper design of the Cayman over the Boxy's bumper design. For obvious reasons (see above) I don't think that my Boxster could be mistaken for a Cayman once the bumper is installed.

    And talking about a "Waste of money": Every penny you put into a visual upgrade of your car (18" or 19" rims, aerokits etc.) is a "waste of money". Wonder why they officially offer the Boxster S rims as an extra for the Cayman in the official brochure.

    you are right about spending money to visually change your car howevr, I can't see "Cayman Front Bumper" as an option in the brochure or OPC parts list for that matter!!

    The Boxster looks great as is, why change........you'll lose money when it comes to resale as people will want a Boxster not a lookie likeie Cayman.

    I think Porsche spent time learning that the 996 and 986 looked the same when seen in the rear view mirror......hence why they now differentiate all 9xx models.

    But hey if you have the money to waste..............go for it!

    Actually, to me it's not too unlikely that the Cayman frontbumper might become a part of the upcoming Boxster aerokit (like they did it with the 996 GT3, making its bumpers and sideskirts the aerokit for the standard 996).

    Anyway... I like the frontbumper of the Cayman over the Boxy's and I'm 99% sure that I'll do the swap. I have a bone stock 996 turbo as a coupe, so it wouldn't make any sense to buy a Cayman for me.


    And sorry for saying "bullshit"... it really wasn't meant in an aggressive way.
