    360 CS - GT3 RS comparision

In a German car magazine (autozeitung) there is a comparision between the 360 Modena Challenge Stradale and the 911 GT3 RS.
In short: the 360 wins for sounds and looks, whereas the 911 is the better car and even quicker, according to the editor.

If I remember correctly, 0-100 km/h was 4.2 for the GT3 and 4.6 for the CS, 0-120 km/h the Porsche was already nearly one second quicker. Lap times of the 911 were also quicker (don't know which track). The magazine isn't known for very detailed tests, also their measured data always seems to be above those of other magazines.

    Re: 360 CS - GT3 RS comparision

Lap times were nearly the same (360: 1:39:9 vs. GT3: 1:39:3). Acceleration was only measured up to 120 km/h (360: 6.2 sec . vs. GT3: 5.4 sec.) - I guess Porsche sent a very special car again...

If I had to choose, I would pick the stradale.

The RS is a very special car...

    Re: 360 CS - GT3 RS comparision

I think the GT3 RS is as fast as the model that was tested in "autozeitung". I also think that the GT3 RS is faster than the Challlenge Stradale. If you extrapolate the measured times, the GT3 RS should be a whole lot quicker than the CS up to 200 km/h.
IMO the Challenge Stradale is beautiful and makes a wonderful noise. But also "auto, motor und sport" figured out, that it is not that much faster than the standard Modena (not talking about track times - waiting eagerly for the "Supertest" of "Sportauto").
Well, how should it be possible, with only 25 hp more and NOT that considerable weight reduction as promised by Ferrari...

    regards
    sr

PS: what the Modena really needs, is a bigger, far more powerful engine...

Frankly, both cars have similar power, torque and weight. Obviously, the CS has the F1 shift, while the RS has a conventional shift unit and probably a better traction at lower speeds.

Having said that, why should the RS be substantially quicker (0-200) than the CS, IF the power output of the RS is in the officially claimed range

It may be the difference between "Italian horsepower" and "German horsepower". If speedometer readings are anything to go by, Italian cars say they're going faster than German cars -- even when they are both going the same speed

Did you read the technical specs of the GT3RS in our NEWS section? Might explain a few things.
Both tested cars were running on Corsas, so I think it was a pretty fair comparison.
The GT3RS was substantially faster in the slalom (18m) which proves it's qualities and setup.
Considering the more than 40000 Euro price difference between both cars, I still think the GT3 RS is a bargain.
The Stradale is a great sports car but more of a poser than a real track racer. I already see used Stradale with low mileage over here in Germany selling at a very attractive price (in the 130000 Euro range). If I'd have the money, I'd go immediately for the GT3 RS right now...or the Lamborghini Murcielago (which shouldn't be a surprise to anybody knowing me... ).

I think most people will agree that Porsche has a tendency to make cars that lap circuits a little quicker than a comparable Ferrari, but isn't your above opinion more than a little harsh?

    Re: 360 CS - GT3 RS comparision

You think a Sporstcar that cost $40K more; and laps at slower
times; isn't a "poser" ? The Ferrari is certainly beautiful in every way; but it always goes back to the Porsche credo.....
    "Form follows Function". Period. Revvv

Poser car or not, the CS still managed to become Autocar's Performance Car of The Year. Beating amongst others, the GT3

    Re: 360 CS - GT3 RS comparision

What street legal car is not in some sense a "poser?" Any street car is going to have compromises that diminish its ideal theoretical track performance. All of the Stradale buyers with whom I've corresponded intend to track their cars - sounds like a pretty hard core group to me ....

As for whether the Stradale worth 40k extra Euros, your opinion is as good as mine! I'm a great fan of Porsche, but in this comparison I'll take the Stradale and pay the extra coin.

    Cheers, Will
