    What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

Is it faster than a 462Hp GT2? i believe not. Thanks in advance.

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

    993 Turbo S: 13.5sec.
    996 GT2: 12.4sec

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

Thanks CF, how about the 0-200Kph for the 993 TT 408Hp version? It might be something like 14,9 or less I supose.

I would like to hear any driving experience or even ownership from any boarder about the 993TT. Thanks in advance

Be careful if you want to buy one. It is a money eating machine, maintenance is very expensive if you do it right.
Why don't you go for a used 996 Turbo instead? Prices already dropped, especially for early models (2000).

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

One should really compare the 993 GT2 with the 996 GT2 since the 993 Turbo S is 4 wheel drive and is no lighter than a stock 993 turbo @ 1500kg whereas a road going 993 GT2 would be around 1300kg and 430ps compared with the 996 GT2 at 1440 kg and 462ps.
    I believe the 993 GT2 did 0-200kph in 12 seconds flat with its 430ps and 540NM
As RC says, the 993 turbos are expensive to maintain especially when modified - having said that I would think that an older modified 996tt would start costing $$$ as all the components start to suffer the years of extreme heat cycles

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

I actually owned a 993 Turbo a couple of years ago and I was very satisfied with it.
I bought the car with 9.000 Km and after two years I sold it with 98.000 Km,during that time I never had any problems with the car.
So far it is the best car I have ever owned.
    993 Turbo,superb quality,sporty and very fast.
The 996GT2 was to difficult to drive, soft and no safety net.
The SL55 AMG,Excellent Autobahn cruiser but absolutely no sportscar feeling so if it's a sportscar you want forget it.

Although I haven't owned a 996 Turbo myself, only driven them on several occasions I can tell you right now that if it's an everyday sportscar you want there is no substitute.

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

I really like the 993 Turbo lines, actually I like even more the 993 Carrera 4S, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful Porsche ever. I love Turbo cars anf their tipycal kind of power deliver. I never drove a 993 TT, but has already driven a 993 Carrera 2, I know it's not in the same league, but there are aspects that are the same on both cars. I didn't like the driving position, find the gearbox a bit slopy, pedals position and actuation seemed very strange, and the overall cabin feel was some how desapointed, with no ergonomics at all.

The newer Porsche are far better in all this aspects, but I was looking for real power, and after some engine tuningthis car can get you to 450 / 500Hp without having to empty your wallet, if you know what I mean. Even in standart form this car must be amazing, from what I read it feels faster than a 996 Turbo, which I have already gave a ride with a professional factory Porsche driver, and didn't impressed that much. Don't take me wrong, the car was fast and very, very sticky, but it didn't seem to be a 420Hp car. i know it's a very safe and everyday driveble car, but it didn't seem to have that wildness hiding soul that I'm looking. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe after driving a 993TT and 996TT back to back might change my mind, cabin, driving position, interior design and ergonomics for sure may play their rol in 996 favour, plus the ability to drive very fast without the need of putting yourself into trouble, but this might be exactly what's makes the 993TT more challaging does this make sence

I've just had my first sun two two weeks ago, and the ideia of buying a 993TT at this time is not that appealing to the "family" , I've already a 3.4L Boxster, Range Rover V8 and an everyday Audi A6 Avant 180 Diesel Hp, wife already drives a SUV so buying one more "super toy" is not exactly my priority. But I know myself, and for the last days I've been having very bad thoughts regarding the 993TT, and the cost mantainance is my main consern at this time as RC just increased that down side possible ownership.

    J. Seven, you are correct, the 993TT (in stock or modded form) is an absolute blast to own and drive. Here's a pick of mine ...

and here's a link to a scan on my webpage of an early EVO magazine comparison of the 993TT and the 996TT when the latter first came out. Double-click on the scan when you see it and it will enlarge fully...

This pic seem to came out from a official Porsche brochure, very nice car, congrats. It's incredibe how the old 993 can "smoke" in accelaration the all new 996TT.

As far as I remember, the GT2 needs around 42 seconds from 0-300 kph, the 996 Turbo 60 seconds (360 Modena needs 80 seconds ).
From 0-125 mph, the GT2 needs 12.6 seconds, the 996 Turbo 14.6 seconds.

I'm not sure I understand. I owned a 996 Turbo (it was in it's original state at the beginning) and I smoked two 993 Turbo owned by friends in any speed range. I agree that the difference from 0-125 mph isn't big (actually there was a third of a car length difference, not more) but anyway, none of both 993 Turbo smoked my 996 Turbo. Right now one of the 993 Turbos has 700 HP, so I might not "win" again.

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

700HP JEZZZ....Can the gearbox and transfer case handle so much power?????
I'm sure it cost him another 993TT to do a proper upgrade but I'm sure there's no competision for him on the road

    J.Seven

Here's the link to the article where the 993TT is faster than a 996 Turbo, but than again RC, there's nothing like your own experience, it's always better than what any magazine say.

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

Here's a photo of a 700hp 993 taken recently at the Austin "Porschedillo" where it won the People's Choice award.

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

I put 26k miles on my 993TT, and the only repair was an O2 sensor under warranty. Great car, and the four wheel drive was very forgiving. I did an ecu upgrade and bigger turbos, and it was fast, though still not as quick as my GT2. A friend of mine still owns the car, and still no repairs. Another friend kept his '97, sold his X50 because he was disappointed, and has a GT2. His 360 is due soon, but still has no intention of selling his '97.

    I'm so sorry and ashamed...

J.Neves, I overlooked your baby picture.
You should have made a seperate post, I'm sure a lot of people would have loved to congratulate you.

CONGRATS, Daddy and all the best luck to your and your family. How do you feel now?

    Re: What's the 0-200Kph times for the 993 Turbo S ?

    Congrats!!!

RC thanks for bringing it up I overlooked it too.
