There has been media discussion re. whether increased numbers of hurricanes around the world are evidence of AGW. At least in the US, NOAA (US national weather bureau) data show that hurricane strikes on US shores from Atlantic Basin hurricanes have not increased in frequency and intensity from data from 1850:

Last year and this year have been lively down near your heighborhood, LPM (
), but otherwise not more so vs. the last 150 years over the last 20-30 years here in the Atlantic. There is evidence for greater activity in the other oceans in the last 35 years, the question is whether this is related to CO2 emissions and sea surface warming or other phenomena out of human control. Any other meteorology buffs with comments?
