    I just ordered my fist 911

    Hi everyone I have a boxster s and I had a deposit on a Cayman. I was hoping for alot more from that car so I have taken the plunge and just ordered a 997 on saturday. It should arrive for January.

    I got basalt black/ black interior and I cant wait!!!!!!!!

    I will be obsesively looking at the forums until I get it to get my 997 hit.

    Well done, londondude : you won't regret it !
    911 is the only true Porsche, you'll feel that when you'll drive it.
    And black/black is the best choice for the best porsche

    any options I def should have?

    I have got (from memory) bose, park assist, sat nav, carrera s wheels and rear wipe.

    First Congrats! Very good choice.

    I'd take off the park assist and get PASM, or Adaptive seats or Xenons.

    CAUTION : Stay away from the boards a little if you can help it .

    Mine due jan 06 but from all this reading I feel as though I have owned it , drove it and even as far as taken it back to the dealer to sort out niggles already .

    Seriously I think it does take the shine off it a bit I remember one poster ( cant remember who ) loosing total passion and stamina for the car but as for the members of the forum well they are a great bunch .

    Its like anything in life ,, its getting the quantities right ..

    Sorry to sound negative lads JMO ..

    I can't imagine anyone losing passion for this car. I can't take a weekend vacation anywhere without wanting to get home and back into my car. Probably why I don't have a girlfriend, the competitions too pretty

    Was January the soonest they could get the car? (London is now down to 5 months wait?)

    I think i must hold the record on Rennteam for the longest wait. I ordered In November, and my car has a Feb build for March 1st delivery! (Dont know why i did that, seeing as I will change the plate imediately!)

    Remainder of my first 10% payment is due in 4 weeks.

    The only option I was told is necessary in the UK is Sat Nav. And the only option I was told to stay away from was sports suspension.

    Funny, for me it was exactly the other way around. Before I took delivery the more I heard, the more I learned the more anxious I was to pick up my car and the more exciting it was when I finally did so. And I appreciated the car much more with the additional knowledge then when I picked up my last Porsche.

    There were about 10 things I learned about the car on RENNTEAM (that I would have never known about, PSE mod. for one) before I picked it up that made a big difference in the enjoyment of my car.

    I get where you're comin from but I guess it's different for different people.

    I agree with Stradale. This forum enables me to evaluate and enjoy my Porsche in ways I would have never known-like how to "safely" break in the car without driving it like it's some rice-burning 4-banger.

    And it will keep you from going totally insane ( ) when you first drive your 997, get a "taste" of a 911, then lust for the turbo, and swear on a stack of bibles that you will never be completely content until you get the 997TTS when it comes out in 2007.

    Welcome to the blk/blk 911 club! Great choice that will never date. Classic Porsche look. Hope your wait goes as quickly as it can, although I suspect it will go as quickly as a sleepless night!

    You might want to consider sports chrono and pse if you havent already for options.

    no they could get the car for November but my finances are better suited for January (xmas bonus helps my figures).

    I hate being sensible and waiting!

    Congratulations!
    I just took delivery of my first porsche, a black on black 2006 C2 and can not stop driving it is just awesome. I also agree get the PASM and Sports chrono; I actually keep it in sport mode. I also went with the adaptive seats ant sports steering wheel. They have just a great comfortable secure feel. I accented the car with stainless steel door sills, embossed the seats and of couse the painted emblem hubs. I feel for you brother! I daily followed the forums, rereviewed the porsche website and stopped in a few times at the dealer to get my porsche fix. I know I drove my wife crazy, not to mention my 5 and 3 year old boys have discussions on identifying all the porsches on the road from the back seat. Hope the marriage holds out! Again enjoy the wait because it is well worth it when the pcar arrives!!!

    Yes and one more very important option (not standard in the USA): auto-dimming rear view + side mirrors.

    congratulations! I have also Basalt on order for January. I agonized over plain Black versus Basalt. Swirl marks are much less with Basalt and it looks so good in the sun. Black interior also looks stunning and never dates. If you drive a lot at night get the xenon lights - I had them on my 996 and found them really impressive. Any option that improves the driving experience is worth it, the other things like Bose, satnav etc will just become background
