Michelin/GT3 question

I was under the impression that the GT3 is being supplied soley with the N2 version of the Pilot Sports, but it seems like some magazines' test examples have the previous generation N1 version. In there September issue comparison test between the Stradae and GT3, EVO commented on how the outside front tire never felt "hooked up" and suggested the Michelins could be the culprit. And not too long back I remember when RC posted 'Auto Motor Sport' GT3 times, that they had handling problems that made them switch to Pirellis. If anyone knows whether these tire handling problems on the GT3 are the result of previous generation Michelins on the car, or just an over-hyped N2 version of the Pilot Sports that aren't up to snuff, I'd really like to hear what the deal is.

I was also interested in this as I haven't specced my GT3 yet and was thinking of going for Pirellis. Apparently the GT3RS is on Pirellis as standard so make of that what you will.

Yes, I think a set of Pirelli Rossos may be in my future.

My car was delivered with the N2 Pilot Sports. I haven't had the car on the track yet, but I think they are a great tire. As close as you can get to a Sport Cup while providing a longer life and better rain capability. I'd give these a try before opting to buy another set of tires. I don't think the order form allows you to spec the brand of tire, you get whatever the factory is shipping at that time.

the ps2 on my gt3 are a huge imrpovement on previous pilot sport which i have on the gt2. stickier, and you can really feel the difference. if you run in rain at all, it'll be a good alternative to cups when we can finally get them.
as i understand it, if a gt3 owner blows one right now, you're going to have to change all 4 as they are not available in USA

You can get a single Michelin PS2 N2 by....

Currently, Michelin USA is holding all Pilot Sport 2 N2 tires in reserve for current owners that may have a problem. Although, a dealer cannot, at present, order the PS2N2 for his own stock, an owner or dealer on behalf of an owner can order enough tires to fix problems on a given car....you have to give the VIN # to Michelin via their customer support #: 800.847.3435
