GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

Just got two new pictures I want to share with you.

    (C) Porsche AG

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

    Second one.

    (C) Porsche AG - Used by Permission

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

    WOW!!
    Is that a technical term?
Man. I want one . Thanks. Great picture. Now desktop theme, with appropriate credits

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

Notice the tyres: looks to me like the new version of the P-zero Corsa as on the Ferrari Challenge Stradale.

    Christian, thanks for the pics...

    You're absolutely right, Luigi.

    And...my pleasure.

Any updates on when you get your car?

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

well i'm not luigi, apparently but my dealer confirmed my order yesterday. my RS will be the first car in my hometown (two in total). delivery will take place shortly after the IAA, probably october.

Do you want a crop of the picture where the tire says "CORSA"?

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

    i would appreciate it!

on the first 4 official pics the writing on one of the tires looks like "NIGHT" to me. doesn't make sense, or does it?

That is the new Corsa Asimmetrico while the existing Corsa is now called the Corsa Direzionale. This tire may not be used on the GT3RS as one of the Porsche press releases states: "The RS has lowered and tuned suspension, but the GT3's specially developped wheels and tires remain: 235/40-18 fronts and 295/30-18 rears shod with Michelin Pilot Sport N1 tires."

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

The delivery for my car is still "before December 2003", no news from dealer.
I'm a little upset by the fact that the RS won't be very different from the regular GT3, the engine is the same and also visually it doesn't differ that much.Even the weight loss isn't really significant.I wonder if in reality the changes in feel will be superior to the small differences on the spec sheet.....

I agree with you, Luigi. I don't mind the same engine so much but the RS should have come standard with PCCB and at least 400 lbs less via some serious Carbon fiber and aluminum parts.

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

i am a little disappointed as well. not because of the engine, regarding service it's IMO a benefit that it's nearly the standard GT3 engine. and 10+ HP more wouldn't have made such a difference.

but only 50 kg less weight than the GT3 CS is a disappointment!

but we do not have to forget that the GT3 is already a highly developed sports car and that the price is less than i expected. but i have the slight feeling that the RS is more for marketing reasons than homologation ...but from this point of view they could have made it look more different indeed, maybe adding some elements from the ALMS cars like the wide rear.

and i don't think that the interior will be any different from the GT3 CS...

anyway, i am looking forward to this car. we are complaining on a very high level

    Zzboba,

my sources told me it's 50 kgs lighter than a regular GT3. The GT3 CS is approx. 30 kgs heavier than a regular GT3. Anyway I'm looking forward to receiving my new trackday toy

    Cheers
    Thomas

Re: GT3 RS - More High Quality Pictures

the official PAG press release states:

    Quote:
A figure of 4.86 kg/kW has resulted - a further improvement of four percent compared with the Club Sport version of the GT3. The new model is 50 kilograms lighter, and tips the scales at 1,360 kilograms with a full load of fuel (90 liters) in the tank.

IMO the "50 kg lighter" relates to the CS. the normal GT3 weights 1.380 kg according to the PAG website (DIN).

but do not get me wrong, i'm quite excited about the RS!! but i expected a greater weight loss.

Luigi, the real advantage of the GT3 RS will be on the track.
I've been told by our sources that the GT3 RS is substantially faster on the track than the GT3. It also seems to be easier to reduce weight further on the GT3 RS than on the GT3.
Another thing: at higher speeds, the engine of the GT3 RS produces more power than the GT3 due to the different airbox design, creating a real advantage on the track.

BTW: there are so many good GT3 Tuners out there who can easily get you 420-460 HP out of your GT3 RS without major problems. Unfortunately such mods aren't cheap and require a lot of work but most parts used are original Porsche Motorsport parts. Happy you...the "real" GT3 RS racing version has a lot of parts to share with the street version GT3 RS.

    Re: GT3 tuners

    RC,

1] please give more details on how and who can get 400+ HP from the new gt3.

2] if you had to choose for street use and high speed open road racing, would you chose gt3 or gt2?

    1. there are several Tuners in Germany who offer tuning kits for the GT3. Some of them are racing the GT3/RS, so they have a lot of experience.

    2. GT2 without any doubt.
