    Auto window opening?

    OK, cars going in (again) to have the dash vents fixed. Whilst it was in I asked if they could also program the key fob to open the windows as well as close them (it currently only does the close). There seemed to be some question over whether this was possible on the 987 (could do it on the 986) - could someone here confirm, or otherwise, whether they've got this feature working on their car....... I'm sure someone once said they had. Ta...

    Yep, mine opens the windows on holding when unlocking, and closes the windows on holding when locking.

    It also pops the bonnet and boot lids by itself like Herbie.

    ... But I think it's just the 'keys in the pocket' trick at work.

    When are you going in Rich? I'm probably gonna pop into B'mouth in a second.

    Thanks wtsnet - actually they've just called to say the bits are in for the vents, but they're not coming to pick the car up until next Thurs, and then have it back by the Friday.

    With all this good weather we're having feel the need for a blat in the car though - wonder how Dreamcars and/or Ente's planning is coming on

    It isn't, yet. Busy planning 2 weeks of doing not a lot in North Yorkshire. Or what is left of it after the weekend storms.

    Ahh, yes - might be worth fitting the official 'Water Wings' option for that trip, and borrowing a hard top. i understand someone is looking for somewhere to store his once he moves....

    Ideally you'd need both to be speed yellow, then you could pretend to be a submarine.

    On my 987, keeping the lock/unlock button pressed does both open and close the windows.

    Welcome to the club. Looks like I have hit my first warranty issue too. The vertical regulation flaps in both central air vents are falling apart. I'm going in for it on the 30th. Is there any telling whether this can be fixed without the whole dashboard being ripped apart and turned inside out? Can't shake a paranoia that, where before there were no rattles, there may be plenty of rattles after the repair.

    Thinking end July/beginning of August. Did a first scouting session into the Chilterns last weekend.. doable. Following up with a scouting trip to Sussex / Ashborne forest for an alternative this weekend.

    Sorry to hear about your vents Ente. I'll keep an eye on mine. I think I might have a rattle, but it could be something in the pocket or glove compartment. It's not yet annoying enough to track down. (So it must be pretty minor!)

    Wait wait wait...are you saying that your 987 opens and closes the windows when you hold down the lock/unlock button on the key fob? Mine doesn't do that, it only opens and closes the windows if I turn the key in the door lock.

    Yup. Perhaps it only works when the roof is up? - I think there was a time a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to do it with the roof down, and I couldn't get it to work. I'll check this later.

    Woops.. Ashdown is what I was thinking. sorry. Always read what I think, not what I write.

    Yes, at least with the roof up, the lock/unlock button held down closes and opens the windows.

    Ashbourne, Ashdown - I get confused easily. I only used to live there!... Must be old age. But never too old to play Poohsticks.

    PS. Ente, you DID mean Ashdown! I thought E.Sussex rang the right Pooh connection bell in my head. So we can go play in 100 Acre Wood afterall! (Yes folks it really does exist!)

    Yep, same here. I went and tested it--maybe it's a UK-only thing?

    Hey, on that note, do you guys out there on the other side of the Atlantic have to hold your convertible top button down in order to open/close the top when the car isn't moving?

    Yep, we do. Annoying! I assume to avoid litigation of some sort. Also if you're dropping it while moving (automatically), and your speed drops too much (but not to zero), it'll stop the roof so you have to press the button again.
    But it IS great when it works - raised the hood near 30mph yesterday. What a show off!

    Damn, I was hoping maybe you guys out there weren't afflicted with all of that stupid operation.

    I'm going to fix it. I'm going to wire in a switch that bypasses whatever relay it is that's toggling the speed-sensitive portion of the top operation. Anyone got a wiring diagram or am I going to have to start hunting?
