    Any 996 tt owners drive/own an slk55

    I am on the waiting list for a slk55 and was wondering if anyone here has driven / owns / or will own one a SLK55.

    It is for daily driver + highway + occassional heavy city traffic(probably Tip 996tt)

    In Aus , prices for 200-2001 996tt have come down to within (AUS)$10K of slk55 ownership.I have driven a 993tt but not 996tt yet.Prefer looks and warranty of 996tt.Will keep either car for at least 5 years.

    genuinely interested in constructive comments about pros vs cons.

    completely different cars in my opinion... where to start?
    Do you want to have a fast (in a straight line) convertible or a sports car?

    I appreciate your feedback.
    I have owned a C36amg which has 200 fantastic Km on the clock. I have a lexus rx330 for family car.I haven't owned a convertible before nor have I owned a Porsche.I am looking for a versatile daily driver that will give me most pleasure / best value over five or more years ownership.
    Convertible or sports car? I was hoping someone that has owned both can help with that one cause I'm really not sure.

    btw don't you mean a C32AmG? I've never heard of a C36AMG b4, or don't you mean a C55AMG?

    why not just get the best of both words and get a 997 s cab? yes it will be more expensive than a SLK55, but it will be as fast and it will handle better etc. etc. plus the roof comes off

    the nice thing about the slk is the hardtop roof. i really enjoy that vario-roof on my SL

    Hi Mike

    C36 was the first performance vehicle produced by AMG for Mercedes.It was a worked 6 cylinder engine.This was followed by the C43 which was a modded version of the 4.3L merc engine.Then came the C32 follwoed by the C55.

    The C36 started the AMG "legend"!

    The main SLK attraction for me is the vario-roof, so I would be reluctant to consider a soft top.Cost of 997 S Cab is not a minor issue.

    Hi MSB

    In my defense, I am unsure if the 500E was ever available in Austrlaia.However, if I remember correctly, I saw Niki Lauda driving an E500 during a TV feature on his Lauda Air and that is when I first became aware of the Merc-AMG relationship.
