    Re: High Quality Pictures

I'm sure Gert will find a ready market in the US for GT3 RS conversion parts. Wing, bumper cover, mirrors, carbon hood, and suspension will all be popular upgrades for those of us who can't get the real thing.

Re: Official GT3 RS Street Version Information available

    Great pictures!!!

RC - Do you know if the GT3 Clubsport is lighter than a "normal" GT3?

    Is this calculation correct:

    90 l fuel = 65 kg => 1360 kg - 65 kg = 1295 kg

(With 0,72 kg per l fuel)

Is this the DIN-weight of the GT3 RS?

    mobile

Bye the way: What do you think about this car, especially price and performance?

    GT3 to GT3 RS?

I assume i shouldn't be too difficult to turn a GT3 into a GT3 RS, it seem that the engine are very similar.

The factory RS parts will be avaliable soon or later.

    Re: GT3 to GT3 RS?

To me, those red painted GT3 wheels look a bit too " flowery " for this " macho " car - would look better on a VW new Beetle painted like daisy petals

Very interesting questions, I'll look into it.
Don't have an answer right now, sorry.
I don't want to tell you something wrong.

This won't be easy because some of the parts are available through Porsche Motorsport only.
And another thing: even if they are available, they'd be very expensive.
But my guess is that Porsche will limit parts output by asking the VIN number for a specific car if you need parts.
    They did that before.

    Sorry, forgot to answer this.

I like the GT3 RS very much, honestly.
But this is no daily driver, people should be aware of it.
Would I buy it? Definetely yes...as a fun car, even for the street.
The performance is slighty better than on the 996 Turbo, what do you expect more from a normally aspirated engine?
And now add the handling capabilities and I think you get a very fine car for the next few years, especially if you want to drive this thing on the track too.

And another thing: I know that the GT3 RS is no lightweight sports car compared to it's racing brothers.
But I'm sure that a further weight reduction of at least 50 kg should be possible.

I also think that the GT3 RS is one of those rare sports cars which have a direct link to motorsports. I know that the standard GT3 has the genes too but the GT3 RS tops it.

Or to make it short: if I had the money, I'd buy this thing immediately. However I wish Porsche would have reduced weight even more.

Re: Official GT3 RS Street Version Information available

RC - Thanks for the answer.

I'm with you. Everything is fine for my - just the weight. I wish they have reduced weight a little more...

So PCCB for another weight reduction...?? But than it's gone be too expensive for me.

I definitly need a better job (with 35 hours/week ) and more money. Too many fine cars out there

Re: Official GT3 RS Street Version Information available

thanks for the info & pics, RC!

i love the car and i ordered it. but i'd hoped that it's at least 100 kg lighter than the GT3 CS and the "red" lettering on the side looks kind of pink'n purple to me... hope that it's more of a "real red" in reality, otherwise i'll go for blue.

    cheers; zz

    You can always remove it.

It looks good to match those highly modified Japanese cars like Supra and 300ZX with big wings and spoilers, only thing missing is some red neon under the car to match the wheels colour at night. It seems Porsche asked the tuner from down the street to make the car look sportier. Jezz, red wheels and white exterior colour. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this is to much bad taste.

Have you ever seen the car below?????????????????????

It is a 1973 Carrera RS, considered by many to be the best 911 ever made. 210 hp, about 2100 pounds (correct me if I'm wrong about the weight, but I know it's close to that).

It's a fact that this color combo is historical and it is the opinion of millions of Porsche enthusiasts that the color combo is beautiful, damn beautiful.

You're absolutely right, the color combo on the new GT3 RS is indeed historical and goes along with the Porsche tradition.
The problem might be that some GT3 RS buyers want to move this car on the street too. People might not know too well about Porsche history/tradition and think that this is another crazy guy with some stickers and a huge rear wing to replace his "you know what". This really could be a problem, one reason why I'm pretty sure that some owners will remove the stickers. Sad but true.

Re: Official GT3 RS Street Version Information available

Today's " ricer" look is a direct outgrowth of the Porsche 911s evolution from the 70s. Where do you think the idea of big wings , big aftermarket stereos and decals came from ? Anyone remember the 1979 911 Turbo's factory option decal that had a huge fading " Turbo " script that wrapped across both rear fenders from the wheel well almost up to the rear window ?
Since the original southern California guys in the late 1940s who took mundane 1930s Ford sedans and transformed them into hot rods , young enthusiasts have taken relatively affordable cars and modded them to personal taste , good or bad. Maybe the whole car mod activity should be called " white breading " , rather than " ricing" to honor the originators .
Here's what someone in SoCal this decade might do in that spirit :

Thanks for the pic, I really enjoyed it.

I just wanted to add that we all are car lovers and if some guys love to modify their cars with huge wings,NOS systems and 10000 Watts HIFI Systems, let them do it. This makes the car world more interesting...
