    997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

The 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S Cabriolets will be available in the MY 2006.
Price difference is almost the same like the one between the Carrera/Carrera S and the Carrera 4/Carrera 4S.
The 997 Carrera 4S Cabriolet comes with PASM and Bi-Xenon lights as standard options.
The 381 HP powerkit option will also be available for the 997 Carrera 4S Cabriolet.

Re: 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

By that point, in another year, one will spend enough on a C4S with Powerkit , add carbon ceramic brakes etc., to almost buy a 997 Turbo , the latter with 100+ more hp and all the looks/stuff/ prestige that comes with the " top " , as Porsche calls it . Am I missing something here ?

I recently met a guy at my dealer who owns a 997 Carrera S for around 125000 Euro (Tiptronic, PSE, full leather, special colour, PCCB, PCM, Aerokit II, etc.). My 997 Carrera S had an official price tag of 107000 Euro. Ouch.
I'm afraid 997 Turbo owners will have to pay a little bit more for their car compared to the 996 Turbo. And yes, I'm pretty sure that you can spec out a 997 Carrera 4S Cabriolet for 140000 Euro. Ouch again.

This is why a good friend of mine, having been told that a 997 S Cab loaded up with all the options he wanted would be around $115-118K USD ( besides a 4 month wait and no discount ) bought instead the 996 Turbo S Cab that was sitting on the showroom floor for a substantial discount , narrowing the price difference to just $15K and put himself on the 997 Turbo wait list , also.

    I promised you, that the 997tt won't be far away from a F430 price-wise...

Re: 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

more than 10% over 996 turbo base price ???

Re: 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

    Thank you RC!

It sounds as if I'll soon have the option of the 997S Cab or the Cab 4S.

Re: 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

Thanks for the info RC! Does MY 06 mean it will come out right before July 2006 or even sooner?

Re: 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

Remember WW's "every 6 months" idea. I figure the cabs will be officially released 6 months after the C4 and C4S coupes.

I passed on a 996 Turbo S cab at $139k (MSRP $149K) for a 997 S cab @ $104 (loaded)and have a deposit for the 997 Turbo cab. Finacially it was just smarter. In a year the 997 will likely lose $10-$15k while the Turbo S will lose $20-25k. Around a $10k depreciation difference in a year. Plus payments are a lot less making it easier to put the difference aside for the 997 Turbo cab. I've never seen or heard of a 997 S cab for $118. It would have to have CCM's and every other option possible..
    Here's a shot of the Turbo S:

This is not an information only an assumtion from my dealer: the upcoming 997 tt will be around 150.000 Euro with a normal option list. I have asked him, because I wanted the 997 tt. He said, he could deliver around june 2006. He even offered me to give me 6 month before an one year old 996 tt on a monthly fee basis. Asking him if 140.000 Euro could be enough, he answered he doubt. He thinks that at least I have to spend 150.000 Euro . 30.000 Euro more then my full loaded 997 4S with X51. He also doubt that the turbo will have 480 hp. He said it will be near 470 or even few hp less then 470.

Re: 997 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S CABRIOLETS - CONFIRMED

150k sounds logical for a car, that has to compete with F430 and Gallardo.

Forget about dealer talk. The 997 Turbo gets 480 HP.
Estimated price tag in Germany is in the 140000 Euro range.
Of course you can add a lot of options to it, making it much more expensive.
PCM is standard, I doubt that the PCCB will be standard too (like some sources indicated). Full leather is standard too.
First cars should be at german dealers around May/June 2006, depending on the introduction date in Germany.
Press introduction should be end of this year, official introduction at a car show in Detroit or Geneva.

The last spy pics taken into account, I'll bet PCCB will be an (pricey) option only.

Any idea what the US MSRP will be? Using the current Euro to USD conversion rate, I get $167,000 USD.
