    The power to change orders

    My dealer just confirmed that my 987S - ordered back in January - will be delivered shortly. In fact the car will be at the dealer's on Friday and ready to be picked up by me on Tuesday. According to the delivery description Porsche did not install the chrome tailpipe I ordered. So now I will have to pay more than double of the price for this extra as it will be retrofittet. I think this is a bit annoying. I ordered a car for 111K Swiss Francs. That is 76K Francs for the basic car and over 35K Francs in extras. And Porsche just replaces parts at their convenience....

    If you havea copy of your pro-forma invoice I don't see how you'll be required to pay more.

    it is more than likely that the dealer failed to add the option to the list, rather than the factory having a cockup.

    ask me how i know. i ended up with a 170k car with 1/3 white, 1/3 black, and 1/3 yellow stitching, missing almost a dozen important options.

    had to reject it.

    It's highly possible that there was a shortage on this option : I have received my car over yesterday in Zuffenhausen, one month in late towards what expected.
    They have explained that the delay was due to this part, because they don't have anticipated such a rush on it.
    In reality, the standard exhaust is so bad that almost everybody tries to change it !!!
    But I have a deal with my Porsche Zenter : if it was not standard fitted when I received it, I will retrofit it in my OPC, with the same price as an option, and obviously not the double they request for second mount market.
    You have to speak with the dealer !!!!!

    Wow CHF111k for a Boxster S, that's a lot of options... could you let us know the specs?

    Agree, that's really a lot..the ones I specced to my taste was sub 100K in Lausanne...what did you put on it?

    I wanted:
    Leather cocoa on the A-column (around the windscreen)
    leather cocoa on the triangular parts behind the rearview-mirrors in the door panels.
    Leather cocoa on the steering wheel column

    If the tailpipe is specified on your order papers they should honor the order and install it for no additional fee.. at the very least.

    Nightshade, I'm very sorry to hear that man !!
    You waited ONE MONTH EXTRA for that Bloody Chrome Endpipe, and than they deliver your car WITHOUT IT
    My dealer told me (in advance) that this option could make the waiting even longer, so I ordered it through Tequipment, the price was only 50,00 EURO more and my dealer did the fit for free (approx 5 minutes work).
    Like the others said, you SHOULD talk to your dealer
    So next week, you will pick up your baby, PLEASE post some pictures.

    Start looking for the copy of your pro-forma....thats BS that they would charge you more for it, I would be absolutely livid if I received that news....

    I have the same problem with the tailpipe. Dealer offered me to retrofit without additional charge! You should TALK to your dealer about it.

    Is this chrome tailpipe shortage a Europe-only affair or is this affecting US orders as well? I would assume it would....

    There has been more than one thread about scarcity anddelays of both European and US orders due to this tailpipe. My car, ordered the first week of March is ONVESL, with the pipe I am told.

    My dealer checks my car's status every 1-2 days and emails me when it updates in the computer system. It went ONVESL 6/13. My order was already delayed for 5 weeks by this tailpipe, so I have already "done my time" with regards to waiting for this part.
