    Forgot to mention - IMO Artic Silver also matches the Aluminum look pieces in the interior better than any other color. The trim across the dash etc. For my tastes the black interior with the silver accents inside is the best combination for contrast. Everything Silver and Black gives the car a very HIGH TECH feel.

    It's a good thing most people have different tastes though. It would be pretty boring if everyone agreed. As for the arguement - Everyone has Silver so I wanted something different. What everyone else has doesn't matter to me when I make a decision on my color choice..

    1st choice is Artic. I like all the below as well.(Don't dislike any)

    2nd CT Silver
    3rd Black
    4th Basalt
    5th Seal
    6th Lapis/Midnight
    7th Cobalt
    8th Slate
    9th Red
    10 White/Atlas

    IMO GT Silver is better than Artic.....but $3K for a Silver paint (or any that isn't paint-to-sample) is ridiculous!

    I think that GT Silver should actually replace Artic and cost a lot less. Why?....have you ever taken a look at some of the Silvers MB, Audi, and even some lower priced brands have?.....all have shades that are totally superior to Artic IMO. Saw a new Honda the other day in Silver that put Artic to shame. Artics time is done, replace it with a Silver thats worthy of the Porsche name and don't charge an arm and a leg for it.

    Black is a pain, super beautiful, but starts showing dirt the minute you finishing drying.

    Any pictures of slate grey metallic? The price is insane, but how about the color on a car?

    Stradale, I think I agree with you about Arctic vs GT Silver. THough I first thought I liked GT better (and actually wanted to like it better cuz I wanted something different from everybody else with Arctic), I've looked at both carefully, and I like the extra reflectivity of Arctic (which I think comes from smaller silver particles in the paint). I agree that GT Silver is really more of a grey - a light grey metalic.

    Silver is soooo 1990s (the road are clogged with silver cars), but black is timeless. Give into the dark side.

    Thanks robbo, he is a shih tzu. He also knows the sound of the Porsche when I arrive home.
    I also think he maybe one of the fastest
    travelled dog on 4 wheels sorry paws.

    Robbo, get one mate. i would trade the 997s in anyday for another one. They will pull more girls in the park that any car will ever!

    Actually get 2, then you can leave them together. Only problem is they will fight for the front seat in the 997.

    Yup. When I first ordered my car I spec'd Artic then after seeing the GT Silver swatch in the Porsche catalog I starting thinking the same thing - Maybe I should get the GT Silver beacuse it would be a more special color. That's when I called my dealer to say I wasn't sure on the color,,,, explained my thinking and he said - 'come down and look, I have both right here'. When I got to see both in the sun next to each other I was sure about the Artic. I think you're right about the mettallic in Artic. It's probably lighter in color reflecting more light. Love the GT Silver too but just not as much. And 4 out of my last 6 sports cars have been Black with a Red Viper and Red Ferrari mixed in. For a few years I wouldn't think of buying anything but Black. My 996 TT was Black. (picture below) Now that I have the Silver I'm so glad I didn't get another Black car. I really love the way Black looks too but the Silver really shows the lines of the car the best imo.
