    F430 Ordering Process

Hey guys, hoping to get some advice from anyone who has ordered a Ferrari recently. Are dealers even taking orders for F430 Spyder's, or is the production run totally sold out? What is the procedure? Typical wait time? I would expect a year to a year and a half. I'd probably work with Beverly Hills Ferrari since they are right down the street from me. They are a VERY high volume dealer - is this a help or a hindrence? Any advice to a first time buyer? I do not mind waiting to get what I want at sticker. I am not a guy who'll pay $75G over sticker to get something immediately. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

I suspect Beverly Hills Ferrari has a very long waiting list. If you do not have prior purchasing expereince with the dealer, you chance of getting a 430 Spider in the next three years are not very good.

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

I've ordered my F430 Spider, but I placed a deposit down last year before it was even debut just to order!! I ask the dealer now for those who want to order a Spider now how the waiting list is, he said 40 months...

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

I have been on the spider list for three years. First for a 360 and then the list switched to the 430. I may still have a 3 year wait. I think to try to go on any dealers spider list and get a car is almost hopeless, sorry. This is for US only. I think other parts of the world are different.

US might be extreme, but situation's not much better in ROW.

order now in germany and you'll have to wait approx two years for your F430 (Q2/2007 berlinetta, Q3/2007 spider).

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

yes the waiting list is insane, it's better to just pay the extra bit on a new second hand one, you'll make that money back looong before you get your car if you've waited

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

My feeling is that the 430's will not getting much of a premium once the novelty wears off.(a year or so) It's a great car but it is a lot of $$ and there will be some stiff competition over the next while. Plus with F sucking this year.... Anyway, just wait for someone to bail and you won't have to play the dealer games. It'll probably cost you less in the long run.

IMO it's the other way round, at least in germany... mainly because of two reasons:

    a) F430's brilliant reviews in magazines. the car now attracts not only die-hard ferraisti, but also new customers who never thought about buying a ferrari in the past.

    b) the strong demand from eastern europe/russia and asia. from what i've heard, german dealers get less cars than they used to get in the past.

That's true, I heard the same.

That is wishful thinking. The car will be in demand for several years. Just look to the 360. The Spider still commands a premium over MSRP. For several years so did the coupe.

By all accounts the 430 is much better car and car enthusiast are flocking to get get their hands on one.

    Mike,
What options have you ordered ?

I spoke to my dealer today and he said there are some new Spider options , he wants me to stop by.

Can you tell us more? Are they also available for the Berlinetta?

I didn't take a whole lot of options, with mine the base price tag here alone is already around $500 000, our taxes suck I considered a few things like the Daytona seats, but in the end I opted for normal ones. I'm still thinking about the Ceramic disks, but those are going to set me back another 20-30 thousand dollars... my car isn't far on the build stage yet, so i can still change 1 or 2 things along the way

the steel brakes (at least in the one i was in on 2 seperate track days) reek like boiling brake fluid after a couple laps. if you aren't gonna track it, it only becomes an aesthetic issue re: the tiny steel rotors relative to the 19" wheels. however, if it's gonna be on the track, pucker up for the ceramics.

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

"the tiny steel rotors relative to the 19" wheels"

I think this could be mitigated by choosing the challenge style wheels, but I agree it's definitely a consideration.

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

I'll think I'd rather leave it ben lj, thanks for the tip! Not many people really race their cars hard around here on track days, those that do normal write them off plus we don't have people capable of repairing such cars..

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

Another thing to consider: IMO the CCM will be one of the few options you will be paid for when selling the car, don't you think so?

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

this is south africa, they give you stock standard resale prices here don't really take extra options into consideration here

    Re: F430 Ordering Process

Where I am in the Washington, DC area, the dealer I am dealing with is playing a game. I was told I am no 28 on the waiting list and should expect a 2-3 year wait. But, if I buy another used Ferrari or Maserati, they can ensure me a much shorter wait.

What kind of crap is that? On principle, I won't play their game. Lots of other options in the way of cars, and by the time the thing shows in a few years, the bugs should be worked out.
