    Should I be concerned

    I went to the car wash today and before i pulled away i received two error messages: PASM failure and ABS failure. I turned off the ignition and restarted the car and the errors went away. Bizarre. I know others have experienced 'fault errors' after washing their car -- should i take the car to the dealer on Monday? WOW, i guess porsche didn't count on us washing our cars!!

    You took the car to the car wash?

    What is the matter with hand washing it? This way you will avoid any potential damage from the brushes/bristles used in the car wash machines.

    I haven't used the car wash for years...only hand washing my cars.

    They wash the car by hand.

    A Car Wash?????... next you'll say you park your car on the sidewalk because you dont have a garage...

    The computer should have logged those errors, you may want to have the dealer download the fault code....Those faults often occur when the battery voltage is very low.

    I have washed my car several times, no errors yet *crosses fingers*, is it just me or are all the errors etc. coming from the US spec'd 997's?

    Do they use a pressure jet to rinse the car? Might be they high-pressure squirted something they shouldn't have?

    No pressure spray -- only an overhead gentle spray rinse.

    I just washed my car last weekend for the first time since I got my car (over 6 months ago). No system faults. And I wasn't trying to avoid getting water in certain areas like the back vents. But then again, I wasn't intentionally trying to shoot water into the vents with large amounts of water. Maybe that has something to do with it?

    The System fault issue was a US specific problem

    The system fault isn't related to washing the car. The reason why it's a US specific problem is due to the trunk entrapment (anti-kidnap) latch inside the trunk which is a US federal requirement for all new vehicles. The latch itself also isn't the cause, it's the affect (partial release causes a SF).

    So, why did it happen after the car wash? They were cleaning the inside of the trunk and left it partially open?

    My jokey question naturally had a serious background.
    I wondered what could be different about US cars to make it a US-specific problem. Didn't think about trunk-entrapment latch until you explained. Thanks.
