How long does it take take to fix a RMS in a 997s these days

Since it had taken 20 days to replace my engine at 4159 miles, and 18 days to fix the RMS on the new engine at 6360, how long does it take to repair a RMS these days? It is not yet confirmed, but yesterday at 9375 miles, I noticed a 2" circle of oil on the driveway. I slid under the car, and noticed an oil leak. The oil leak was emanating from the same area near the engine and the trans, that the last RMS was diagnosed. In the past, others thought that they had a RMS, but then turned out to be something else and a quick fix. I am not that hopeful of a solution. The thought of being out for another two weeks really is depressing. I am hoping that current fixes, are only a few days.

Also, has anyone else had a second RMS on their 997s, or again, am I the first.

In the past I have counseled to allow Porsche to repair the vehicle. If you have RMS again, my advise is to turn in the car. If Porsche refuses, get a consumer lawyer. There is definitely something wrong with your car.

Man, and I was depressed when my 02 996 was diagnosed with a RMS leak after 16K mi. The service mgr gave me some BS about everything being "in spec", but that can't be the case with your 997. Agree with a previous post that you should take some action.
Oh, and my RMS was diagnosed and fixed within two days. RMS is not that difficult for them to change if it's just the seal. Can't imagine it would be much different for the 997.

But your situation really sucks. Good luck!

Looks like some poor folks are having to change the RMS more often than the oil!!

Looks like some poor folks may be having their RMSs replaced when the leak may have a different cause!

Hi nberry,

My Lemon court case is tomorrow at 11 am. It has unfortunately gone this far, since PCNA has been unwilling to replace or buyback this car. I guess that it will be a surprise to the Regional Service Manager Tom Drabers that a new RMS leak may have occurred again. This issue is despite his personal, April 29th vehicle inspection report that claimed no engine problems.

These guys at Porsche just don't get it. Isn't 54 days out of service enough for them to call it a day?

I just wish that I could get some other kind of satisfaction, to make up for what these people at Porsche have put me through.

GO LEGAL, they deserve it. This thing is totally unacceptable.

Get a good lawer ..

An important tip..

sometimes the press(magazines,newspapers etc.. can be very helpful and knock some doors

)
