I am not totally sure why Escort markets two systems (SRX and SR7 Plus) that appear to be identical (except for the front appearance of the display unit) but if you look at a list of dealers/installers on the Escort website for the SRX it states: The Passport SRX is sold exclusively through high-performance car dealers. However, under the description of the SR7 model, it states: "The Passport SR7 plus Shifters is sold exclusively through high-performance car dealers and car audio specialists. This is the same thing my audio shop told me--that he could only sell the SRX unit to car dealers. This is apparently a restriction imposed by Escort to keep the SRX model more "exclusive" (a marketing ploy). IMO
