With HP escalation in the state that it is today.....IMO a base Cayman with 250/260 HP would be a waste of time in the US. With the pricing structure the way it is, the Cayman S should have been the base, with the real S being a 325HP / 3.6L car. ( I know, don't need to go there again.)

The Boxster is a little different here. The 240 HP model is just fine for people who want a less expensive, fun-to-drive, quick drop-top, with all the great qualities of a Porsche, but I think Cayman buyers may be looking for a little more performance. The defacto power for a serious premium coupe in the US market place today should be around 300.
