    Re: Interior

Mine is the "basic" sports wheel. I think the centre boss trim is leather in yours as well, which it isn't in the basic one. You won't really get the full benefit of PASM until the car is run in and you start to use the performance. Comfortable all the time, no roll, ever, and no front end dive even under hard braking. Quite astonishing. You probably won't bother with the "sport" setting unless you go on a track day.

The bad news for you is surgery for the grin won't work. In fact, it gets worse. Or is it better. The only cure will be to sell the car

    Re: Interior

    Wow, beatiful car!!!!Also with hard-top

Hmmm, let me think about that for a seco... NO!

    Re: Interior

You wait until you've got a few miles on, roof down (or off!) long low bridge or tunnel 6,000 + rpm. Sounds just like the Lois tunnel during the Monaco Grand Prix. Well nearly.

    Fiddling about

6000rpm? Sigh. Not for a while...

    Been fiddling about (!)...

Discovered the alarm works! (Opened with the key, and didn't get the key in the ignition quick enough.)

Verdict on the Bose is.... well, it's acceptable, but not stunning. You have to fiddle with the settings a bit to get it to sound any good. The 'surround' processor compresses the sound horribly, so I've turned that off. Just upped the base quite a bit, and the treble a tad. Audio pilot is still on, though I have a feeling that might compress the sound a bit as well. It's OK for the road, and probably better than the standard speakers, but if I want real hi-fi, I'll go listen in the living room. Or go find a nice long tunnel!

    Re: Fiddling about

You can optimise the sound for the driver, which does improve the sound. Still isn't as good as those six horizontally opposed, fuel injected, Optimax powered speakers immediately behind though

    Re: Fiddling about

Lovely day here. Trying SO hard to keep the revs down...
Maybe I should move to Milton Keynes... more roundabouts. Whee!

Parking sensors work very well, even though they spoil the looks a little.

Well get that tin-top off then.

Should of seen them on the 986.... yuck!

Liking that colour combo though - a brave choice that has really worked, shame you're missing those few extra bhp though by not ordering the coloured wheel crests!!!

    Re: Fiddling about

Thanks for the complements. I'm relieved it's worked out so well. Still get that bit of reflection in the windscreen, but it's not so bad.

Tin Top: I know! It's painful. I had both windows down earlier though...

But I can't take it off by myself. it's suprisingly hefty, even if it has been designed to be light weight. (Aluminium, not fibreglass). and has a couple of lethal spikes on the botton to secure it. And I was going to wait until I had a nice soft baggie for it. The trolley's nice, but I'm not sure I can stretch to it. I'll see if my girlie's feeling strong later, but I don't want to risk making her feel bad if she drops it. I'm sure I'll work it out soon.

Wheel crests: I'm going to get my felt tipped pens out in a minute...

And anyway, I'm sure they're much easier to steal than 19" alloys... when are we meeting again?

What's good at getting bugs off?... I do love summer!

There is a nice Boxster S, same colour as yours, but black inside, frequents Rennteam meets that has coloured wheel crests. Look nice on your 18" wheels. Owner has a rabbit fetish.

I believe you volunteered to organise the next one... we're waiting.....

They do some 'bugoff' stuff at Halfrauds which works well - but I find the grey/black sponge they do with plenty of warm soapy water works well as long as you keep the car waxed.

I am a fairly frequent visitor to my step-daughter in Blandford, may well be down there in the next couple of weeks. If you want a hand removing the tin-top and haven't got it off by then I'll send you a PM when I know I'm next down there. It isn't far to Dorchester and any excuse for a drive.

    Re: Home at last

Yay! Grats on your long awaited baby. The beauty must weight 500 kg more than the other Boxsters because it stayed in the Porsche womb for so long.

I just went and bought the insect remover spray Porsche sells in their Tequipment shop. Will be able to tell this weekend whether it also takes the paint off...

I love seal grey.. it was such a close call for me whether to go seal or black and in the end the good old black won. But seal is just plain distinguished. You won't mind if we do a tactile test on the steering wheel at the next meet will you? I wondered about the difference to the standard sports wheel for future reference.

Fondle away... You just want to soil my leather with your makeup, don't you!

It would be interesting to see the difference, I agree.

500kg Heavier? That'll be the hardtop then! Lightweight aluminium, my ar$e!

May I suggest Ainscough Crane Hire or Marsh Plant (depots here in Southampton, maybe one near you) for your tin-top removal? Lifting Gear Hire do a great line in chain blocks and slings, also.
