    Leather Interior Options

At Porsche's web build site there are several interior leather options. While the site claims the ability to view the interior, I've been unsuccessful on three different computers (both PC and Macs) with several different browsers.

Has anyone seen any/all of these options "in person"? Are there opinions of their value, especially if getting a full leather interior not in black?

    Option: Description -- Listed Price

XNG: Instrument Surround in leather -- $260
XTV: Door finishers in leather -- $360
XMP: Sun visors in leather -- $560
XTG: Inner sill finishers leather -- $585

    Re: Leather Interior Options

I have XNG: Instrument Surround in leather, as well as Rear Center console. I recommend both, if you are not getting black for the interior color. Teh other color plastics do not look so good, and replacing them with leather makes for a richer look. But the cost can add up fast.

I saw you posted some pics of your new car....could you tell me which part of the instrument surround is leather....it doesn't look to be any different from the full leather option....Beautiful car, and the center console in leather looks great

For the record $560 for leather sun visors is RIDICULOUS!!! it's not like a sun visor is a complicated shape to cover

    Re: Leather Interior Options

    JF,

It is hard to see in pictures, but it is leather on the inside of the oval that surrounds the entire instrument cluster. To get e good idea of exactly what it is, go to the Porsche web car configurator, and choose the aluminum instrument surround. It is very easy to see.

To be honest, because of the angle from the driver's seat, the leather instrument surround it is not that noticeable even in person. Fortunately, I think it only cost $260. The center console, on the other hand, is very noticeable, and highly recommended.

    Re: Leather Interior Options

yes but leather needs special care be warned

    Re: Leather Interior Options

I wonder about leather. It's a delicate surface compared to the old "vinyl" standby. Eventually you're gonna get some passenger who's not used to delicate surfaces in the car and is gonna do something normal for a vinyl interior yet will cause scratches or blemishes to the leather. Then what? A trip to your local leather service guy who is either gonna screw it up worse or make it look okay but different from the rest.

Okay on seats because everybody expects leather there to look worn and patina-ed. Leather gets better with age on the seats. But on the dash? I don't think works the same way; wear marks would be odd there.

The diference between standard leather (painted, or pigmented) and vinyl is very hard to determine these days. A "natural" leather interior (dyed almost like suede?) would be a nightmare.

All just guesses on my part.

    Re: Leather Interior Options

I love the leather option on my car. Not many cars even have this option so I recommend you go for it if you want. Its a guilty pleasure one enjoys just for the sheer fun of it, there is no peformance value whatsoever, and probably won't help in resale.

As far as durability, probably not as durable as plastic, but plastic scratches just as easilly as leather.

If it's a cab the leather sunvisors are really nice. You don't notice them as much in a coupe but I would get them anyway. I just don't like the way the plastic ones from PORSCHE look at all. I'd also get the leather sunvisors ESPECIALLY if your interior is "full leather interior not in black" . If you order the leather sunvisors they will come in your interior color instead of black plastic.

The rear console in leather is a nice option too.

I agree on the dash "wear marks would be odd there". I've never had anyone screw up my leather dash. The full leather is the nicest interior option you can get. Plastic looks like.............plastic.
