Looking at his car on the official site, It looks like he does not have the engine upgrade, but stayed with the original 964 engine . That could explain how he passed homologation . One of the major reasons I would love to talk to this guy !!

I guess one of the advantages of living in Colorado is that they don't care if I put a 500hp motor in my 73 911 that came with 140hp.  No inspection at all (only has to pass the very lax emissions standards from 1973 one time only and is never tested again...)

The car's shell has been painted and is now back at base to be assembled and tested over the next 2 to 3 months. Here is a teaser

Do you hint to them that perhaps they could work a bit faster and do they just ignore your hints?

I would think the wait would be agonizing for you; it's hard enough for us. Looking great, though. kiss

I love the color...a proper red. To my eye a bit bluer than the classic guards red that is too orange for my taste.  Just drooling at this point.

Yes  - its been a long long wait, but the Singer motto is "Everything is important" and they really do execute in that fashion.

Agree  - a lot of Porsche reds until the recent Carmine have been orangey. This is a "Singerised" red which means it has a bit of black in it or as Rob Dickinson puts it  - a bit "dirty" -  in the best possible way of course!

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

My Singer would be red too... Targa but not with the biggest engine. If only they didn't raise the price so much... Any used Singer out there?

Not that they are aware of. But it is only a matter of time before some do come on the market.

I think you would want the 4.0L -  the smaller engine lacks torque.

OK, I finally found a flaw in the singer... From these pics, it looks like the filler cap should be a tad bit more to the rear (aesthetically speaking) Might be the high viewpoint though, and I am really nitpicking here. Still absolutely love them :-)
BTW, I see one of the cars doesn't have the front filler cap... is it an option? And if so, what is the alternative position?

Yes - the front filler cap and associated move of the fuel tank is an option. Otherwise it remains in the position of the original 964.

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

Do they also offer the option of an external oil filler cap on the RH rear flank of the car?
Some of the cars appear to have one.

Correct - it's a nice touch. Their website has a list of the options for your perusal.

That was only done on the 1972 model year - the oil tank in the 964 is in the engine compartment.  Weight distribution was better with the forward tank in '72, but too many owners (or fuel station attendants) filled it with fuel heart

Some race cars place the oil tank in the forward trunk, which is even better for weight distribution...

I know, if you have to ask... but it says there $600k for work plus donor car. Is the final bill now close to a million (ballpark) if you take all options? Year or two back in some interview I got the impression the whole car would be like $400k+

Thanks. Smiley   I knew that some early 911s had briefly had external oil filler caps, but thought they had been the very first ones, i.e., 1963 rather than 1972. You live and learn.  Smiley

Re: Donor vehicle for Singer Vehicle Design

I long said that the Singer is nothing more than a way over-priced resto-mod. Very well built (cosmetically) but a resto-mod. There are restorers in Europe, in particular, offering products with far more character and authenticity. The Singer is just a path for the ultra-wealthy looking for a garage queen jewel-like trophy, and a travesti of sorts. My view, anyway.
