The previous iteration remains peak BMW for me, such a gorgeous car and lovely to drive (regardless of that SMG box), would love to get one again at some point as a keeper.

Nordschleife time is 7:15.7 (6.4s slower than GT4 RS on same tires, assuming the CSL time is for full lap - otherwise an 11s difference).
Edit: Just saw that CSL full lap is 7:20.2

My biggest objection is also the weight and the need to have a slushbox torque-converter automatic gearbox. Unfortunately (like the Manual Porsche GT4 gearbox, it cannot handle the torque of their highest spec motor, so automatic only).
My hope is that the next generation M2 will also have a CSL version that is truly lightweight, smaller, and has a choice of Manual gearbox (which will make it lighter still and maybe more fun to drive).

The gearbox in the original CSL was bad too, looks like a remake then.
Manual M2 CSL would be such a great product.

Yes, I think all newest BMW M models have gotten rid of the old DCT for the ZF 8-spd torque-converter automatic.
The Manual 6spd can only handle the torque of the RWD base models of the M3/M4 (without Competition spec).

RS variants never come with manual gearboxes, so even if one could have been fitted, it logically would not have been offered.
