997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

Maybe some of you 997 Carrera owners or soon-to-be Carrera owners overlooked the PSE modification post, so just in case, here's good news for you:
the document which came with my PSE indicates that the PSE is approved for the Carrera (non S!) too!!!
So if you can put your hands on a PSE, do it.

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

Ok, I'll wait only to hear it LIVE than I'll most probably do my order...

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

Any pictures of how it looks on the non-S 997?

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

IN THE NON-S it looks exactly the same, because it is the same.

The PSE was approved for non-s way ago,as i posted on end of February. I ve ordered it for my non-S way ago and it should be here end of week

    Great, Dilinger!

How about other rims? You thought of the Carrera Classic wheels, didin't you?

    Please hold us up-to-date. Thanks!

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

i am in love with the Carrera S wheels ,dunno why but i fall for them!! I ll wait and i might buy them from an S owner who wantsa to upgrade or from a base model used that is for sale and i might pay a small amount to trade the original back before the guy sells them, or i might wait for a carrera 4 future design,,,,they cost 5500 Euro i Greece quite expensive i think..

At the time i mm looking for colored centers and some carbon interior

Have you had a look to eBay? Or make holidays in Germany and buy the rims here! I'm also "stretched" how the (maybe new designed) rims will look like on the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4 S.

    I and my impatience!

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

yes that s what i thought too. Maybe the Carrera 4 and 4S or even GT# and TURBO will have new variations of rims so i might go fot them!!

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

    RC,

With the continued larger sales of the basic 997 over the 997S in the US, it makes sense for Porsche to offer it for the standard 997. They might even offer some exclusive options of the non-S also.

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

    FelixxC,

What exclusive options do they offer for the S that in the future they might offer for the non S also?

Where did you see this info about base 997 sales being higher then S sales ?
From everything I've seen here in the NorthEast S sales are higher then the base 997. That's only from what I heard from Porsche sales people and from the amount of base 997's that are available in inventory vs. the S though.
Are there any official #'s ?

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

I'm wrong, you're right. Found this on the RENNTEAM Porsche board:

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

Actually I guess it's split. There were more base 997 coupe sales then the 997S but more 997S Cab. sales then the 997cab.

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

Stradale WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN, month to date and year to date?

I am not sure the sales figures tell the whole story. There may in fact be more non-S models sold than S models, but that may not match the actual demand. At the dealers I spoke with, non-S cars are available while S models require a wait of several months. If the demand for the S were met, would it out-sell the non-S?????

Having said that, there are many non-S owners who also want to buy some accessories for their cars. I think that everything offered S owners should also be offered to non-S owners. Why, for example, are there no chrome exhaust tips for the non-S?

Re: 997 Carrera (non S!) - Porsche Sport Exhaust approved

how much will the sports exhaust cost?

I can't confirm this, but I think Porsche's exhaust supplier is working overtime as things are. The PSE's availability was delayed several weeks, and those of us that ordered the chrome exhaust tips for our 987s are still waiting. I suspect Porsche WILL have chrome tips for the standard 997 at some point, but I bet it will be a couple of months from now when their supplier has caught up with their current backlog.

    Just my guess however!

Since October, 997 sales have overtaken 997S sales in the US. Since there is a smaller allocation of S cars, it is logical that you would have to wait longer for a S than a non-S. Whatever the reason, since October, the non-S has out sold the S.

The point I am trying to make is that we don't know how many buyers will go ahead and buy a non-S to avoid waiting months for an S. If the S models were more readily available, would they sell more of them??? That's my question (and I don't know the answer). The dealers in my area have non-S cars in stock but if you want an S you may have up to a 5 month wait. If both models had the same availability and one out sold the other, then you could truly say the one is more "popular" than the other.

Having said that, it really doesn't matter how many either sells. I don't think that Porsche cares either. Many non-S buyers add a lot of the options that are standard on the S to their cars. So Porsche gets it either way.
