    This car has some interesting details....f. e. the big Turbo engine with a manual gearbox and (RWD only - not sure) ...could be real fun.Smiley

    It should be a real drivers car and not one for lap times, but sadly 99% of them will stay in garages with zero to 1.000 Km. Smiley

    What engine will power this car? A detuned 3.75lt from the Turbo models? Or a further tuned 3.0lt from the GTS?

    The 997.2 Sport Classic are selling in the UK for £260.000+

    Original price in 2010 £140.000. At the time people thought that it was too expensive.

    I think, it will be the usual GTS engine with 480 PS - this is what they did with the first version.

    I do like the car (frunk, roof, ducktail) already, but giving my personal budget nowadays for sports cars I am not nearly in reach to consider ... ok, so, a wallpaper it will be ... Smiley

    Nope. As far as I heard, it is indeed going to be a detuned 911 Turbo engine with 550 hp.

    The new 911 Sport Classic comes in limited production of just 1,250 units and revives the unique 911 style of the 60's and 70's.

    The new 911 Sport Classic is the second of four collectible models presented by Porsche from the Heritage Design family.

    The limited edition Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur will have a total of 1,250 vehicles and will revive the style of the 1960s and early 1970s.

    Like its predecessor introduced in 2009 and based on the then 997 generation, today's 911 Sport Classic is based on the modern 992, but is inspired by the original 911 model (1964-1973) and, in particular, the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 of 1972.

    Its uniqueness is underlined by the wide body - normally intended only for 911 Turbo models - a stable rear spoiler in the style of the legendary "Ducktail" Carrera RS 2.7, as well as exclusive Sports Grey Metallic paint with painted double stripes. The roof with its impressive dynamic recess, is another unique feature of the 911 Sport Classic.

    The hood and roof are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) for weight savings. The matrix LED headlights in black with the Porsche Dynamic Light SystemPlus (PDLS Plus) and the unique paint on the fixed edge of the spoiler complete the unique sporty design on the front of the vehicle.

    The large, stable spoiler made of CFRP is the distinctive feature of the rear of the 911 Sport Classic. It is inspired by the shape of the legendary "ducktail" spoiler of the 1971 911 RS 2.7. The 911 Sport Classic has 20- and 21-inch wheels.

    Inside, the iconic pepita checkered pattern is located on the door panels and in the centre of the seats, while the two-tone leather upholstery in black / classic cognac gives an elegant contrast to the exterior colour.

    The philosophy of the drivetrain is equally unique: the 3.7-litre, twin-turbo flat-six engine transmits 550 PS on the road through the rear wheels alone. Combined with the seven-speed manual transmission, the new 911 Sport Classic is the most powerful manual 911 of all time.

    The 911 Sport Classic can be ordered from April 28, 2022 and will be available from Porsche's European dealerships from July.

    The 1.250 cars must be already gone to privileged customers.

    I find this model a most attractive 911 variant. Powerful enough with very good touring abilities, 2+2 (like the previous SC, I presume) and without the unnecessary in most areas and days AWD and without being too ostentatious like the GT models.

    A starting price of €280.000 is reasonable if you consider that it can be a daily drive or a sports drive or go on touring in this car. That it could become collectable is an extra bonus.

    In the US greedy dealers will tack on at least another $100,000 to MSRP. No way this car is worth close to $400,000.

    Yesterday while driving my RS I believe a 992 GTS passed me and all I heard was constant farting in front of me. He was trying to show off his car by gunning his engine but all it would do fart. If that’s Porsche sport exhaust it’s an embarrassment.Smiley

    It was my own assessment of a reasonable price in the range.

    The 997 SC was sold at the same price as the 997 Turbo and included Ceramic brakes. It was also more limited at 250 units. So something slightly below the 992 Turbo is what is to be expected IMO.

    This old Evo article says it was much more expensive than a Turbo with far less performance.  At least this time, the performance is better than a Carrera GTS (which is basically what it was mechanically in the 997 years - a Carrera S with X51 power package +30hp).  But production numbers are now 5x as high...

    It doesn't have a high hp rating simply because of the limitation on cooling and the manual gearbox.

    550hp with lots of torque should be more than enough for RWD and Manual Smiley

    But if the cooling and gearbox are truly limited, it sounds like owners should resist the temptation to easily add more power with a tune.

    I don’t think the typical SC owner is interested in tuning. 👀

    The ducktail and bubble roof are probably especially added to collect even more dust when the cars are locked away.

    Probably right.  Do you think the "collectible" status is diminished much by making 5 times as many this time compared to last one?  There are also many more competing interesting GT-series manual options now compared to then (GT3 Touring, GT4, Spyder, 911ST, 50th Anniversary Carrera RS, 60th Anniversary 911 coming next year, etc.)

    Porsche simply don’t have a manual box to handle the torque. 
     

    Tuners will of course have their go at it. After all they don’t have to warranty the car for hundreds of thousands of miles.
