All in all, spring is here and winter is receding, but I bet we still get another foot or two.

For those who'd like to try what I recall is the best long range detector, Escort has RedLines back in stock, I just ordered one!!  We'll do a compare!

You bought the 360C? Interested to know your thoughts on it, as it's a 'stealth' detector and the highway cops here use Spectre RDD devices to find scofflaws who use them (they're banned). The other option is the Beltronics STI magnum. I've heard good things about both.

I second that best long range detector comment!

On my way into Vegas through the desert in the 918, it caught a sniff of a police radar over 2 miles away. Saved us from getting impounded and/or arrested.

Back then I went for the Redline instead of the 360 for the longer range, but it would seems like the the Redline gained the 360 function now from your pic.

Notice that page is in reality an online store that sells Escort detectors, it would be like reading a BMW/Merc/Porsche SUV comparison test done by a BMW dealer...

Re: SUN'S LAST RUN TO WILSON, WY - 991 C2S CAB LIFE, END OF AN ERA (Part II)

I have never owned a radar detector and as a result clueless about them. If this article is engaged in disinformation, Mike should know about it and respond in a manner he deems appropriate.

FWIW, in the past whenever I encounter an article critical of Mikes' product, I have let him know.

I'm returning the 360C now that my RedLine is on the way!!  Mike knows what his product weaknesses are, and has made it clear:  tough sh.t customer!!!  I will report on the RedLine, and bump the valentine down to slow trucks.

Here is an interesting facts fo think about that image next time one looks at a sunrise. The sun at that moment is actually higher already, that sunrise moment happened aprox 6 minutes ago in reality, and you are looking at the past. The sun light takes about 8 minunes to cover the distance betwen the sun and the earth and reach you eyes, but because the photons slow down when they enter the atmosphere compared to empty space, the light also gets refracted (like when it goes through a diamond or water) half a degree downwards and the sun takes 2 minutes to cover that half of degree so the light you see is 2 minues bellow the horizon, that means that overall the sunrise happened 6 minutes ago. And in the case of the sunset its a 10 minute deleay aprox. So I always find it interesting that that beautiful sight you see is not really there right now.

Also I always find interesting that we all instinctively think of the sun as yellow when I'm fact it's white, but because of the particles in the atmosphere the blue light wavelengths are more easily reflected and scattered away and the light left that reaches us is more predominantly of the opposite side of the spectrum, yellowish. The more atmosphere the sun light has to pass through the more blue is scattered and the closer to orange or even red it appears to us, that is why the sun at noon is closest to white in color and the clouds are completely white not yellow, but the lower it gets on the horizon the more atmosphere it goes through as is hits earth in a tangent and the closer to orange or red it appears, and the scattered blue light in turn is what gives the sky its blue color.

Completely off topic I know but it wouldn't be rennteam otherwise Smiley

Haha, yes book lovers are a fine species.  The most important book in my life is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and look at this stunning example on its way to me, bound by Zaehnsdorf in 1862.

As you say --- The value is in the words and the spirit of the writer; the fancy binding and thick heavy strong old paper merely adds a soupçon of tactile and visual joy to the reading.!!!  I love cutting pages as many I buy have never been read!!.

My very first copy was my father's, also the best -- the George Long translation, which I had to have rebound having handled it so much in reading, carrying it everywhere.  And since have collected another 6 or 7 copies.  My next reading, maybe my 50th one, shall be in that stunning Zaehnsdorf copy above.

My Latin has faded since college and I shall try to bring my skills back sufficiently to read it in the original before I return.Smiley

Here's a lovely works of RL Stevenson in 24 volumes in full levant morocco by Stikeman & Co, bound in 1901, on its way from Adrian Harrington in London.

Amazing books, Watt. Smiley My daughter would probably never leave your house again, she loves to read and books are her world. She needs to feel them, to smell them, I swear to god that sometimes I get the feeling she can tell a book by it's smell. Smiley

My Latin got rusty as well, I was actually in school in a circle with one of our Latin teachers who taught us to talk in Latin, I won't forget it. The very same teacher also introduced us to the Asterix & Obelix comics in Latin, we basically combined the modern world with Latin, it was so much fun. Not sure I could read a book in Latin again but I think that I'd understand around 50-70% of it.
