Pix of Cocoa with Slate or Green?

What colors does Cocoa mate well with beside red? My wife and I don't care for it with most of the silvers/greys (Artic, GT Metallic, Seal, Atlas). Dealer is touting Slate Grey, or a green, but I've never seen those colors live (I've been to the website). Any pix of cocoa interior with these colors? Opinions?

Re: Pix of Cocoa with Slate or Green?

I have seal with cocoa and its the only one in my area. That can be considered a bad choice for those that wish to conform, but a good choice for those that wish to show their style. I love mine. You decide.

Go see the colors for real!

Any of those colors would look really good. The fact that you have never seen these colors live is a HUGE negative in my opinion.

You have more dealers than you could shake a stick at in SoCal so I can't for the life of me imagine why you couldn't be bothered to go and see these colors for real at one or more of the dealers.

You might find that in reality GT Silver and Cocoa are the perfect combination. Imagine kicking yourself later when you saw that combo and LOVED it, when you were driving around in a Red 997...which frankly would look HORRIBLE with cocoa...

Re: Go see the colors for real!

Dark Teal, Midnight Blue, Lapis Blue, Guards Red, Yellow, and Carmon Red would all look good with Cocoa. Slate is more of a greenish/brown grey and would probably also look good with Cocoa.

    Some quite unwarranted assumptions there.

I've been to every local dealer within 50 miles, many of them more than a few times. These dealers include some reputed to be among the largest in the U.S. outside Florida. I also regularly check the new and used car inventories of these dealers (from their Websites) to see what colors are in or soon arriving.

I've seen the GT Silver/Cocoa combination on a couple of Boxters, and have not liked it. Dealers claim that the colors/materials are the same on both platforms if the name's the same.

If you think Red looks bad with Cocoa, you have a color taste greatly at variance with Porsche's. That's a combo frequently used in their brochures and test cars, from the pix I've seen. In any event, it's not probable I'll get red regardless of its interior.

Any chance you could post photos taken in sunlight where you can see both the interior and exterior colors at the same time?

I don't think so. In the price guide book there's a 'Recommended colour combination' table. Terracotta, Cocoa and Natural Brown are not recommended combinations with Guards Red. You might have seen Red/Sand pics? I have seen several publicity/magazine shots of that combo.

    Porsche's Guards Red recommendations are:
    - Black
    - Stone Grey
    - Sand Beige
    - Ocean Blue
    - Two-Tone Black/Grey
    - Natural Dark Grey

    Their Cocoa recommendations are:
    - Black
    - Speed Yellow
    - Carrara White
    - Arctic Silver
    - Basalt Black
    - Atlas Grey
    - Seal Grey

Hope that helps. I think the Red/Sand combo is cool.

Re: Go see the colors for real!

Porsche recommends Ocean Blue with Guards Red? Frankly, I'm having a hard time picturing that.

Re: Go see the colors for real!

    Wtsnet,

What are the recommendations with GT Silver and Slate?

Thanks for the information. Where can I get to see a price guide book? What are Porsche's recommendations for the three green flavors?

Re: Go see the colors for real!

Slate's not on my list. Sorry! I'm picking this from the 987 UK Price List booklet.

Re: Go see the colors for real!

Oddly enough, the book doesn't give recommendations for the special exterior colours:
    - GT Silver
    - Cobalt Blue
    - Forest Green
    - Slate Grey
    - Dark Olive

    Just because they are offered

    doesn't mean they look good.

Be careful what you do. This photo was someone's inspiration in 1981.

Re: Go see the colors for real!

Agree with you about the lack of colour recommendations for the special colours. I've had a look at the Cocoa interior, and must say that it looked great 'in the flesh'. I'm considering it with Seal or Slate - Seal is 'recommended', but my wife tells me that Slate would be even better! (As we all know, men only know 6 colours and 2 of those are black and white, so I pay a lot of attention to her views!)

Yeah I know. I'm just relating what the book says. You really really can't decide 100% if something is OK or not until you see it in the flesh. And finding odd combinations isn't easy. And Like you illustrated with your pic, fashions change. I'm a big fan of sticking to neutral or classic colours.

Our spouses seem to have been cut from the same cloth. Thanks for the input!

Amen Brother! There are certain colors, textures, materials which in the proper combination NEVER seem dated. True classic and timeless designs. The 911 has been elevated to a timeless classic, so might best be the "interior design" choices you make.

Notice the iPod direct-input right there?!~~

    my how things have changed...
