I'm more than happy about that being the big difference between US and ROW on this model. At least we GET a GT3 this time and it has all the power, low ride height, etc. In the past US cars sucked in comparison (way less power, big bumpers, higher and softer springs, and in the case of all the high performance models (RS, RSR) not even US legal).
So, we've come a long way if we just need to spend $23 to buy new side markers...
well, If you look at it from that perspective... But anyway, I was wondering what this orange turnsignal thing is all about? is it legal to retrofit white ones?
US DOT requires orange side markers. I don't know if this is because "it's always been that way" or if there is some study that shows that orange is 10% more visible under certain conditions but it is a US regulation.
Officially it is not legal to change them to clears. Fortunately, only a few bureaucrats in DC are aware of this, so I've never had a car that failed a safety inspection because I changed the lenses to ROW clears. In fact, my M3 had ugly orange reflectors in the bumper that I swapped out for color-matched plates, so there was no reflector at all. I still passed safety inspection.
In the US we highly depend on the ineptness of enforcement to overcome the stupidity of the federal safety bureaucrats.
Don't even get me started on why we don't have better coverage in the US for GSM phones!
Same deal with me...none of my cars have a front license plate. I do not plan on evading enforcement, or having a hit-and-go accident, but I hate to drill into my bumper. No tickets yet.
Front plates are not a Federal requirement in the US, each state decides whether to require them or not. I think the majority do require them but it is not a DOT or EPA issue. In fact in Virginia, where I live, front plates are required but it is not an item that is required to pass the annual safety inspection. I never use front plates except on my truck and the only time I ever got a ticket was when I was already pulled over for speeding and the cop walked around my heavily modified 996 looking for other infractions he could write me for.
I had a cop tell me my Turbo "looks much better without a front plate" In a state where they are required. I replaced the sidelights with clear, but bulbs are still orange, the effect at night is the same..
This is definitely not a stock GT3. It appears to have a Cup car front bumper cap (with the upper ventelation slots), a non-stock exhaust, and a non-stock rear wing. It also appears to sit lower than stock, so it probably has an aftermarket suspension on it.
