If you're a good customer and you know the sales person and/or manager well, everything is possible. Not necessarily a written contract but you can sign some sort of pre-order document, which I'm not even sure is binding but it is a good sign of faith between both parties.

Still means absolutely nothing - we have a new PZ here at the Lake Zurich since 2 weeks and they truly start from scratch and I spoke with the owner/Management quite extensively about this Topic and my conclusion is that they purely decide on their "likings" only. There is no process given by Porsche.

    Interesting.. Feusisberg?

I asked my dealer once about leaving a deposit on any possible, more-extreme Boxster or Cayman (this was before any GT4 rumours, or the Spyder came out) and they just looked confused and said there was no waiting list or way to make a reservation for something that didn't exist in their system, and said they wouldn't even have a mechanism to accept a payment for something like that.

I guess this varies dealer to dealer.. yes

I'm sure that what your dealer's staff said is quite correct, and that no formal mechanism exists for dealing with such things. Where a dealer does take a deposit for a car which has not yet been confirmed, he's effectively just "humouring" the customer by providing him with the reassurance that he would be at the front of the queue if the model should later be made. The manufacturer will not be party to this arrangement.
It should however mean that the customer making the deposit really should be at the front of the line if the car really does turn up, so it is an obligation for the dealer.

Bjoern's new PZ may not have been interested in such an arrangement because it considered that it might be more advantageous to it to be able to do some other "friend" a favour later than it would to have the hassle of administering a small-interest-free loan in the meantime, which is all that a deposit would really constitute.

When I ordered my 991 GT3 RS , I was the first customer ever to have put a deposit . I had to insist ( they had never done that before ) and I just did it to secure the 2nd car arriving at the dealer .

Now I did not put down any deposit , but we did sign a contract ( same one as for a 991.1 GT3 RS ) But he changed the version to 991.2 .

It is also true that there is no real obligation . I can step out of it when ever I want and he probably can put anyone he wants in front of me or even cancel it if he does not get the allocations .

Bottom line is, it is more about the relationship you have with your dealer which will make it happen or not .

This is an 991.2 GT3 thread or I'm wrong? It's pretty annoying enter a thread to find 991.2 GT3 RS discussion. We have a 991 GT3 RS thread for that. No offense, but off topic became very annoying thing lately on RT

FWIW, the subject of placing speculative deposits with dealers is just as relevant to the GT3 as it is to the GT3 RS.

I might add that the GT3 and GT3RS are essentially the same model and discussions relating to them in a thread are relevant. SportCarGroup must have had a bad hair day.Smiley

Back to the RS. My dealer has already told me I will be an early taker of the RS and seemed confident one will be produced. But like all dealers, did not express certainty.Smiley

Let's face it, the GT models are the hot items for Porsche and they would be remiss if they did not take the opportunity to capitalize on them.

Starting off a traffic light isn't exactly racing... Smiley but ALDO knows he would loose, the R8 is incredible off the line, even without launch control. I even claim that when it is wet, no car on this planet can outrun the R8 in a red light run, I was never that impressed with the wet performance of a sports car.

On the Autobahn however, I would certainly see ALDO's read lights only, especially at speeds over 160 kph... Smiley Smiley

Back to topic, guys...before I get slapped by you and ALDO again for being OFF-TOPIC. Smiley Smiley

Nope, we already tried (without launch control). Smiley With launch control, both cars are basically side by side, no (visible) difference (991.2 Turbo S). I guess it doesn't matter in real life if the Turbo S is 0.1 seconds faster from 0-100 kph than the R8 on paper. Smiley From 0-300 kph, I'm even almost a second faster. Smiley
